Just wondering if anyone has done one of the Photo Days at Wildwood. If so, what are your thoughts?

Despite the lack of replies, I have just registered as I am sure it will be fabulous. Of course my trip is still a few months out, so you will have to wait a while for the report and photos.

I am also doing the photo tour at Wildlife Heritage Foundation, which I already know from my last visit will be fabulous. :)

Sounds like fun. What are the rest of your plans for this trip so far? :)

Wildlife Heritage Foundation (photo tour)

Wildwood (photo tour)
Paris architecture
Le Parc Des Felins

I'm noticing a distinct step away from your usual animal based itinerary here AD, have you decided on architecture as it's far more showy than certain small cats? ;)

I have always enjoyed both (cat photography and cities at night). On my last trip, I got a shot I had preplanned of Notre Dame (Paris) at dusk using my film camera and a double exposure timed about half an hour apart. It is blown up to 40 by 60 inches in my loft (thumbnail attached). However, I will spend more time on architecture this trip, including a free day (as in non zoo) in Salzburg.

But still lots of cats. Wildwood photo tour includes scottish wildcat, the only place I know of where you can do special photo ops with them. Parc Felins has everything and also a photo day at WHF and their impressive big cats. I am going to Zurich specifically for the snow leopard exhibit. Port Lympne still has a very impressive small cat collection as well.

The British Wildlife Centre in Surrey also includes the Scottish Wildcats in their photography days; I haven't been on one, but I understand from people I know who have that you are allowed into the Wildcat enclosure if you're on one of the tours - they are only on specific days though. All details are here: British Wildlife Centre: Photography Days

I hope you enjoy your tour, I liked Wildwood when we visited a couple of years ago.

Well if you're in the UK and want some impressive architectural shots you can do a lot worse than visiting Bristol and getting some shots of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Or if you want a zoo with an extremely impressive building in the middle then Dudley could well be ideal, what with being built around a castle! ;)

I haven't done one but it's on my list.

The photographer, Dave Butcher, is a really nice guy and as long as the weather is decent you should get some great shots.

I need to book my next photo day at WHF too, we're going for a 3 person workshop. Bloody expensive but will be well worth it.

Have fun!
