Photos look dull after posting on ZooChat?

Hi fellow photographers!

I’ve noticed a slight problem that I have when I upload and post my photography on the Media section.. all of my photos appear super dull, less saturated, and the colours shift and become way off when I upload them on ZooChat, despite them looking fine after post processing and when I post them on other platforms :( Does anyone else have this problem? I don’t know what I can do to fix this issue.

If you're using some kind of HDR with your images or other special processing optimised for your computer/monitor/phone then it likely won't translate well to the web - especially once the photo gets resized by the gallery software.

I'd be interested to see one of your original photos to see whether there's anything specific to them which is being removed by the resizing software. If you have a particularly good example, could you email it to me (use support email in my sig) as an attachment and link to the version you've uploaded to ZooChat so I can see the difference?

Thank you kindly, I've sent you an email with attachments + links to the ZooChat versions. I adjust the HDR on a majority of my photos when editing including the ones posted on here, which might explain the issue, but I use no special processing for my PC.

Okay - I've confirmed that it was the image resizing routine stripping out the ColorSpace ICC profile.

Fortunately there is another image resizing system we can use for the photo gallery which is able to maintain ICC profiles for resized images.

I've installed the new software and tested it and it seems to work now - although do note that thumbnails are compressed a lot more and seem to strip the colour profile information as well.

If you like, you may re-upload your images and then report your old images to request a deletion. Or at least upload a test image to confirm that the colours are maintained with the new image processing software in place.
