Yassa and Jonathan:Thanks and i will surely try and improve my zoo the best I can, and hope to be able to take in more unwanted pets in the coming months.

JurekYes I could surely think of giving away some of my animals to other zoos or other instutions were I know they will get a good home, I will probably have little chance of keeping all my animals if I want to take in many more additional animals as the land I have bought is starting to get crowed and I have no possibility to expand it further at the moment. I have been in contact with different rehab centres in Thailand and India about sending animals to them, at the moment no agreements but I have good hopes to send animals to Thailand.

Here is the new squirrels, I have no idea what species it is, given the fact that there is about two dozen species present around here.

Will be good if you can take some of the gibbons and give them a better life

Keep up the great work!

Nicobar Pigeons

Sebbe - do you find that your Nicobars breed better in a colony situation or in separate pairs?

What diet do they prefer in your area?

Thanks.

I kept the Nicobars pairs in seperate avaries when I first got them, they did breed and several of the females laid eggs but then abandoned them.

About 8 months ago I choosed to put all of them in the same encloaser and since then they have raised 8 hatchlings succesfully. They breed in colonies in the wild, and is best kept in colonies in captivity as well it seems.

Nicobars

Thanks Sebbe.

What is their preferred diet in your area?

Have you ever had to hand raise Nicobar squabs? If so, what crop milk substitute do you find is the best?

We are hand raising a young Bleeding-heart from the egg right now - only our second day and it's a lot more of a worry than any psittacines that we have ever done.

Thanks again.

Yes I have hand-rasied 3 Nicobar hatchlings, they will became very tame if you keep them solitary and handle them much from start, I had one that ate breakfast with us every morning for quite a while, and when he was done he happily jumped away and walked around in the garden. But as I intergrade them into colonies they lose their thamness cradually.

Regarding Crop milk subsitute, problem is that there is hardly any such products here in Myanmar so you either have to import from Thailand/Malaysia or make your own. So I dont have much experiance with crop milk.

I think MacMilk is a good product but I have only used it a few times, on Bruce Green Pigeons, African Green Pigeons and one of the Nicobars.

I have made my own crap milk most times, though this may be a bit diffucult and you often have to experiment alot. A though question.

hangingparrotot01.jpg

Blue-crowned Hanging-parrot, a very entertaning species. Probably the species I have breed most succesfully so far. I keep Vernal Haning-parrot as well, but these are slower to reproduce

Wreathed Hornbill chicks, just took them out of the nest a few days ago to weigh and make a health check.
