If this is a fraud which seems likely, I would like to know where Seebe lives and what he does. He does have a better knolage of SE asian wildlife than me and posably knows something about Burma. I am sure he has his reasons for it and it made him feel good.

I supose he chose Burma as it is an obscure country which nobody visits.

I think everyone else needs to provide referances so we know they are not frauds;)

I did notice that for someone that owns a private zoo he did travel alot.

Wish I'd thought of it first!

Then I could have had you all green with envy as I told you about "my" Javan Rhinos, my Mountain Gorillas and my Giant Pandas! :p

why would someone go to all the trouble of finding all these photos and creating fake stories to go with them.

Whoever these guys are, they have WAY to much time on their hand. I don't get either what on earth they have to gain by doing this?

BTW, sebbe67 last visited ZooBeat on 18-03-2008. We didn't get suspicious about his photos until 19-03-2008, so he may yet come with an explanation.

maybe that's when he last logged on, but he could easily be viewing the forum without signing in. Like patrick said, it's doubtful he will return

The mods should be able to check his IP adress and find out where he is located, at least the area. It would be interesting to see if he is really living in Myanmar.

What strange and mysterious things go on even in a bonafide forum such as this.In the adjutant stork photo, the netting definately doesn't 'linkup' at the top of the photo. I did notice in some of the pheasant photos, there are old concrete walls in the shots, these do indicate these birds are living in very long-established zoo or pheasantry enclosures.

p.s. watch out for photos of my Okapi breeding station- its in Tibet....;)

Geez, imaginary zookeepers, imaginary zoos, brown uniformed people, don't these people have better things to do, like get some experience so they can actually get that zoo job.

perhaps he would have tried to solicit donations or sell some of "his" rarer species.
What baffles me is the amount of time that went into this. Not like most scammers. And while there are some posts that were incorrect, he clearly knew a fair amount of what he was talking about. I can't imagine someone researching everything for each post.
Perhaps he was just trying to supplement and enhance the impressions people had of his place by exaggerating some. Although the Sweden/Burma thing baffles me.
Being in Burma was possibly the biggest rouse since few people do or feel safe visiting there these days with the current political climate there. Would they even allow an operation like that there??

There was a lot of time put into it wasn't there, and I don' think that he is lying to us completely, as he did know an awful lot about cassowaries and BoPs which I have checked up with other people, and it is true...

Can you post what he told you about birds of paradise and cassowaries?

I would be interested to see if its common knowledge or the sort of insight you only get from working with the species
