Pics from my private zoo in Myanmar

if all sebbe's posts were made from Sweden then what should Sim do about his Burma zoo thread (delete it? Put a warning on it regarding authenticity?) ?

http://www.zoobeat.com/19/zoos-wildlife-centres-myanmar-13479/

he may have been there at some point but at best the contents of the thread are misleading and at worst completely false. He claims for instance to have visited a particular zoo and then updates a short while later from a return visit supposedly made, and details the changes made at the zoo. Obviously an impossibility if he has been in Sweden the whole time.

Sim could you send him an email and ask if he would like to offer an explenation. I had a look at his profile and get the folowing message in regard to emails.

Sorry! That user has specified that they do not wish to receive emails. If you still wish to send an email to this user, please contact the administrator and they may be able to help.

I think we can give him a bit more time to respond - it is Easter after all.

This guy is listed as a moderator on another forum... the Extinction Forum(all about extinct animals) His profile gives his location as Singapore!

if you put "sebbe67" into Google it comes up with a variety of forums he is registered on. Apart for the ones mentioned above, also thaibirding.com, crotalus.se (where his "real" name is given), gtr.co.uk, and rs6.com (where he states he has been living in the Middle East for 15 years!...oh, and his English is considerably better). On birdforum.net he says he is living in "Northeast Borneo (Kota Kina Balu)". Funny that he uses the same name for so many sites -- rookie mistake! But who knows how many other forums he's abusing under other names.

dudes like this just get a kick out of the con, and then being discussed after they are exposed.

he has joined so many forums, about cars, fish, birds etc.. we should join up every single one and write a message explaining he is a con. if you lie and actually say he's worse than he is - he'll be furious!

he's probably already rejoined here anyway under a new name. I was just looking on birdforum.net and I rather suspect that sebbe67 (location: North-east Gabon/Western Ivory Coast) and Papuan birder (location: Madang, New Guinea/Cairns, Australia) are the same person. Common trick, have two personas so you can make yourself look smart by answering your other user's posts.

lmao, just found this one on birdforum.net

Help on Indonesian birding - BirdForum

for background, sebbe67 joined first under the name woodcock67, and in his welcome thread he said he lives in Sumatra (the Gabon thing obviously came later). He also joined as sebbe67, living in Borneo. In the thread above he appears to have got his (many?) accounts mixed up when replying.

What I can't figure out is how the woodcock67 and sebbe67 accounts later merged (as they appear now to be the same account, although that is obviously not how they started out)?

sebbe67 welcome: Hello everyone - BirdForum

woodcock67 welcome: Hello - BirdForum

EDIT: one of the moderators on Birdforum tells me that when they catch someone with two accounts they merge the two, explaining why woodcock and sebbe are now the same. Personally I think they should ban and delete, especially if he's spreading false info on birds to other birders.

I can safely say that it isn't me

Well executed con if you ask me, fooled all of us.

Too bad he doesn't spent his time doing something more constructive though... seems like a huge waste of effort to get a buzz.

This may seem a bit funny and strange but he has been other places where it isn't

BirdLife International's Globally Threatened Bird Forums - Dwarf Olive Ibis (Bostrychia bocagei): population information required

BirdLife International's Globally Threatened Bird Forums - Dorst’s Cisticola (Cisticola guinea): reassess as Least Concern?

BirdLife International's Globally Threatened Bird Forums - Baumann’s Greenbul (Phyllastrephus baumanni): reassess as Least Concern?

BirdLife International's Globally Threatened Bird Forums - Sumatran Laughingthrush (Garrulax bicolor): newly split and threatened?

Thats where IUCN treatened status of birds is judged. If the posts by sebbe67 also are false IUCN can easily make wrong judgements and assign the wrong status to a type of bird. The results can potentially be tragic... who want to spend money on saving a type not considered rare by IUCN perhaps because of the false posts by sebbe67?

as a birder that really infuriates me. His private zoo was mostly harmless (probably apart for the people he promised could visit it), but making up crap about endangered species, bird locality data, etc, is unforgivable.

I didn't see patrick's post but I'm sure I would agree with it...

but it sure passes the time digging around on the internet after them

You should be in the Police Chlidonias..! You're much better than some of the guys in the Electronic Crime office...

Its amazing, you cannot hide on the internet, I can't believe I only just found this thread...

I didn't read what Patrick's post said but I can guess and would "vote" the same if you know what I mean...

By the way I'm a 13 year old girl on another forum...

Sorry for the double post but I did a google on his “real name” and came back with these sites also:

GlobalTwitcher
Birding Planet Earth

Someone really should post on these other sites because the most dangerous liar is someone who tells 80% of the truth, i.e. he knows enough to fool (me at least) everyone...
