The five seals temporarily at London Zoo went back to Whipsnade last Wednesday.

Ah, thanks for the info. I was wondering when they were going to go back. Would've liked to have seen them at London but it's good to hear that the work has been done at Whipsnade.

Sorry, meant to say "sea lions"! What was I thinking. They looked so lovely in the London Zoo setting, it was great having them there for a short while.

Haha don't worry. As long as you know the difference! :P
Yeah, I bet it was great to see!

Ok, thanks for the information so far everyone-it's been a great help!

Would anyone happen to know the sex of the Blackpool sea lions? Or whether there are any pregnant or young sea lions in the UK at present? I am aware of Dom, although he must be quite old by now, are there any others? (possibly Coombe Martin?) I am not under the impression than many places breed their Sea lions.

EDIT: Just remembered that Bristol have a pup.

I know they have Max the adult male (Came from Madrid in 2010) and a younger male (Elmo I think). They have about six or seven females. I know three of them Gina and Anya (Both sisters) and Isabella. Gina and Anya's father is Bimbo.

Depends what you class as 'young'.... Chessington's 2 females are under 3 years at present and 'Reggie' at Knowsley was born 2009 in Blackpool I believe, (he is the offspring of Pleasurewood Hills' former male 'Bimbo' who is now at Blair Drummond).

Edit to add, Gina and Anya were both concieved BEFORE Bimbo's arrival at Blackpool as far as I am aware? Their father may have been Blackpool's previous male 'Hugo'.

Bimbo was there for a good number of years, and at the talk, Gina and Anya were described as young females.
