Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium 2021 News

Wondering if anyone has some insight...
I'm trying to find out if Harrington the Matschie's Tree Kangaroo is still with Pittsburgh or if (& when) he has passed. Pittsburgh received him back in 2016 from Toronto Zoo.

From what I know, he was alive in 2019. They wouldn’t move him because he’s really old. So if he passed, it would’ve been recent

"Dr. Baker also spoke in opposition to the ordinance, saying it would put the zoo’s reptile programs in jeopardy. She also said there were other and better accrediting associations than the AZA."

I'd love to know wtf she thinks those better associations are.

The ones that don’t care how they manage their elephants. IMO their mentality has a very similar feel to people who argue “state rights” and then get mad when federal funding is slashed.

Fantastic news as far as I’m concerned. The zoo has needed new blood for a very long time, in my opinion. I wonder if the so-called Top of the World project is set or if they’ll now put final design on hold and let the new leader have a crack at it?

What animals had they planned to put on the "Top of the World" Project? I've looked for more info on this, but haven't been able to find it

The Top of the World project is split into four phases. Phases one and two (The Islands & Jungle Trails) are complete. The next two phases are rumored to be Compass Point and a reptile solarium - both of which are under construction currently. I was told by a zoo employee that the main attraction at Compass Point will be manatees.
