Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium News 2017

Apologies again. Zoo codes are not always what you think they should be. I looked under Lincoln Park and the code is CHICAGOLP. According to the plan, Detroit's Nuka (formerly from Pittsburgh) and Columbus' Anana (who also used to live at Pittsburgh) were slated to move to Lincoln Park. Plans could change especially since Anana is now a mother.

Pairings have changed since the last SSP recommendations. It was mentioned on the Lincoln Park Zoo thread that Kobe will be moving to Lincoln Park to breed with Siku. I've also heard through the grapevine that Kobe is actually already there in quarantine.

Confirmed by Zoo:

Dinosaurs at the Pittsburgh Zoo opens 5/26.

Jungle Odyssey will in May.

A timetable has not been officially set for Coolio's debut. I would expect it is weather dependent.

Rolling my eyes at the comments on that "Petition" Serious what do people think signing something on the internet will do. Unless Im wrong this has no/can not effect on breeding recommendations.

Even more ridiculous/eye-rolling is the fact that they want to stop a breeding program from doing it's job  good grief.

Looking forward to working with some of these guys on my internship this summer hope to see you there. Also black rhino Janine has moved to a new zoo for breeding. What zoo? I can't confirm

Is she doing what she did in the past where she goes back to Seaworld after mating season? Or is she going to stick around for a bit? I was thinking it be more permanent this time with Kobe now in Chicago at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
Kobe didn't move by the way

On behalf of us at the Pittsburgh zoo, we are happy to have snowflake back here for polar bear breeding season and assure she will be back with szenja after breeding season ends. Also, we will miss Kobe, as me personally loved watching her

I just want you too know that if i ever misunderstand or not know something, it is my apologies because I mainly know about the big cats and great apes on a day to day basis

She is now in Milwaukee.
Sadly, in a non breeding situation.

The current status of the SSP Eastern black rhino outlook is not great. Very few zoos are allowed to breed due to overrepresentation issues and breeding recommendations have been reduced significantly. Due to the paucity and infrequency in births the population seems now to be decreasing rather than increasing as projected by the SSP.

That's unfortunate to hear... do you know how many Eastern Black Rhinos are in a breeding situationin North America? And where they are stationed?
