The new Lowland Nyala Breeding and Transfer Plan has been released. I am a Friend of the AZA and this gives me access. Houston appears to be eliminating the species from their collection. Around four zoo's will be taking in the the animals. It said Pittsburgh will get three females from Houston and one male from Lowry. I would expect them to go to one on the African Savanna exhibits. The Springbok Plan has the zoo sending off around four springboks. I am wondering if it is that exhibit they will go in with the ostriches, the dama gazelle, and the springboks.
 
It will be interesting to see if any of the hoof stock species move out to the ICC. Would make a lot of sense. The exhibit at the zoo is far to small to house all those species

Thanks I was thinking they would go there but sad I've always liked the springboks though
 
That is still pretty small for the gazelles, nyala and ostrich. Plus the ICC has 700+ acres and only 5 elephants. They have been talking for years about adding more species
 
Sad news from the Pittsburgh zoo one of Tomas cubs max who lived at blank park zoo passed away at age 6 due to lymphoma
 
I have two announcements none of which are updates though but I am visiting the zoo tomorrow so I will try to find out as many updates as I can, and I just put up a new YouTube account for the Pittsburgh zoo called Pittsburgh zoo videos which will have walkthroughs of sections of the Pittsburgh zoo one or two for every time I visit the zoo depending on the camera data

yes that is exactly what I was going to do the video will be about the Saba elephant reserve and possibly the worlds of discovery
