Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium News 2017

Yes the exhibits look very generic (just grass plots and all more or less the same). Certainly not a "jungle odyssey" as I would envision a jungle. Also what are giant anteaters doing there? They are grassland animals, not jungle animals.
Giant anteaters are not strictly grassland animals; they are also found in various types of forest through their range. It's not inappropriate to include them in a "jungle" exhibit.

All I can say is when The Islands opened, there was barely any plant life there either and the exhibits looked plain so I'm going to assume more plants will be added so it looks more like a jungle

It may also just take time for the plants to grow. RotA at the LA Zoo looked bare when it first opened, but the plants have grown since then and it looks more jungley now... and will continue to look even more so in the future.

Exactly that is a great point you made

It will take time. Akron's Grizzly Ridge is finally beginning to fill in nicely and it opened in 2013. More may get added once the Conservation Solarium is in place since they are next door to each other.

I still find it funny how it is still one of the nicer Pygmy hippo exhibits I've see

Why are the northern sea otters off exhibit, and when will they be returning? Any news on when Coolio will go on exhibit?

They have been cleaning and rehabbing the sea otter exhibit. That should reopen ASAP. More work has to be done on Coolio's exhibit. Dinosaurs and Jungle Odyssey were the priority to open them on time. I expect by late June maybe. Perhaps earlier. Perhaps later.

Finally got to see jungle oddysey- I enjoyed it. I got to talk to keeper Mo brown and meet some off exhibit jungle oddysey animals- Kaboom. Sea otters are still off exhibit same with springboks. Mo told me as of now the zoo will get Andean bears for the mountain exhibit

Are the springboks returning? I thought they should be gone. They are not on the app. Are the new maps in yet?

With the Dinosaurs this year only, I am beginning to wonder what the zoo has planned for this area. This has given them an opportunity to start working on this area. Dinosaurs technically could have been next year instead of this year because it will be an off-year. I wonder if an exhibit may eventually go in this area.

Honestly that was what I am thinking but I don't know what they would put hopefully some Australia stuff

Australia would be good. A would be a good place to put a new exhibit in an off-year for the Top of the World. Even if it was a less expensive one.
