2 Asiatic Lion cubs have been born a few days ago.

A golden-headed lion tamarin was born.

So I visited Planckendael today, And I have some small updates nothing major.
The pictures are off the works that will start in Asia to finally build the Sulawesi macaques enclosure, so with future visits the Asia loop will be cut short, Ample planning and signage is in place. Since I haven't seen anything about the Butterfly experiment in the Orangutan greenhouse I decided to take some pictures. The species seem to be the same as in the Antwerp zoo to me.
The orangutans moved enclosures as in Moni, Karo and Vilmos are now in the last one and the family with Paquita is in the first one. I assume this would be because of the otters.
Kanvars move is definitively on hold for now. The elephants enjoyed a shower from the hose and a swim because of an interns last day.
There are still 2 snow-leopards in the same enclosure together.
Australia:
The fastest scenario for Devils would be summer but Copenhagen still hasn't received word so this might even be delayed more.
North america:
The flamingo mix went well and has it's benefits starting the breeding season earlier. They are monitoring possible hybridization. The flamingos from Antwerp might stay, depending on legislation around aviary flew and if they form nests (with eggs) or not. The Penguins are having a lot of eggs so hopefully the population in Planckendael will grow again.

Do you by any chance have any updates on the renovation of the antelope area?

Bonobo's:
A male Bonobo will get a vasectomy because he's over represented and this would allow the group to be merged again.(As well as it could with the hole Zamba thing)
A new young female is set to arrive from La Vallée des Singes in 2 weeks. However because of under staffing the move has been postponed multiple times and will possibly be postponed more.
Black lemur: The new baby is probably another female, this has not been confirmed. Oreo and Kimmie will be allowed to mate again next year. Daughter Wifi is set to leave in 2 weeks to a German zoo( Exact zoo is unknown for now probably east German so my guess is Braunschweig) to form a pair with a male and start a breeding group. However she still has an implant birth-control. So they would either have to remove it or wait 2-3 years. Xhuna will stay a bit longer.
The mountain zebra sign has been removed, I have no clue what happened. So either Tarana moved or died.
Arabian oryx( Hadj) and slender horned gazelle(Safira). So the funny thing is both are signed to move but they don't know where to either.
Antelopes: You can spot the Dorcas gazelle with binoculars even the young same for the Bongo's. I could not see the Somali wild asses.

Recently a Giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) was born to female Tiyaka, a zoo first breeding for Planckendael!

Yesterday I finally saw tho orang utans on the outdoor islands. Vilmos and (I thunk) Kato where climbing in the branches.
The addaxes where together with the grévy zebra's and both species where calm and looked confident.
The new developed area for antelopes, bongo and somali wild ass are nearly finished.
A building is been constructed for the sulawesi macaques.

Sadly orangutan female and mother Kila has passed away 
An airway infection resulted in an infection in her laryngeal sacs. She sadly did not wake up from surgery to drain infection fluids from those sacs.

Asiatic lion mom Lorena has killed her 2 cubs after mandatory vaccination. They will look for solutions in the future with the studbook holder in Denmark as well as with experts on Asiatic lions. Lorena is a spicy and explosive lioness who has raised 4 cubs total. Her first litter in 2016, and more recent 1 out of 2 in 2021 (Wishu remained). In 2021 she also killed 1 out of her 2 cubs after vaccination.
This is tragic, but difficult to prevent. In the future they might wait longer for a reunion since one hypothesis is the cubs showed signs of weakness( being a little ill from the vaccine) . Or they might work on the olfactory factor and try to mask the scent even more. Or so are my current hypothesis.

A oriental stork (Ciconia boyciana) has hatched and is been raised by the parents.
I went to Planckendael today so some updates.
Africa:
Bonobos: Habari got a vasectomy. The bonobo that came from vallee de singes is 8 year old Swahili she is already introduced, and the introduction went well.
Lemurs: Wifi went to Eberswalde where a new enclosure was built so the 2 existing males on ZTL will not contribute to the breeding pair they would get a new male.
Grevy zebra: The zebra's are fully introduced to the addaxes, the introduction went well.
Giraffe: Mountain zebra Tarana got euthanized, due to health and welfare reasons. The Mohr gazelle have a new male Seku. Next to leave are Siebe still, and Theo would leave to France to become a breeding male.
Rhim gazelle Shafira and Arabian Oryx Hadj looked happy and were visible outside.
Antelope building: I saw the Somali wild asses not the dorcas gazelles. The Bongo enclosure is finished. Both young were visible, one young died due to a kick of an adult (2 young live one has died).

Elephants: Pregnancy results not in but probably not pregnant. Kanvar is separated due to Yu Yu yin.
Orangutan: They have swapped the enclosures again. Now Ombak, Bagus, Moni and Karo and Paquita are together in the last 2 enclosures. Vilmos is alone right now in the first enclosure. They will adapt a more fission fusion model. Letting the older females choose with who to interact and be together with. Kira's autopsy results are in she died due to a long term bacterial infection she apparently caught/ still had in Basel. Most orangutans have been outside at this point.
Sulawesi Macaques: Pictures of progress below. They were inspecting the building.
Indian rhinoceros: Viana would leave in September to Peru. Crate training is going great, she voluntarily went fully into the crate, and they could close it.
America:
Bushdogs: Apparently a female moved only 3 bushdogs are left. Also apparently a new female would arrive. Fun anecdote 2 keepers kept calling the 3 bushdogs to come in for a check (they tried everything). The dogs promptly gave them the finger. Once they left the 3 bushdogs came out and had fun in the water. It was the first time in a long time I saw them.

The White-faced saki male has died, they already have a new male: Mapoya. The introduction to Tita went well, they will soon be introduced to the tamarins.

What's the problem with Yu Yu Yin and Kanvar? I saw them last week together.
Apparently Kanvar was a little rough with Yu Yu Yin, so she was afraid of him refusing to go inside for 3 days, so they decided to separate Kanvar from the herd for a bit to let things cool down a bit.
Because he has too many offspring? Which youngsters are his? Or because his family line is over represented?
So Habari is the dominant male at Planckendael who has sired to many offspring. As well as his mother Janoa is very represented in the population. Coupling this with the fact that the group is split because of the baby abduction and him not being allowed to breed anymore. They decided to do a vasectomy by a human specialist, so the group has the option to merge again. They opted for a vasectomy for health reasons since castration has some downsides. Right now their are no plans for further vasectomies, however is this goes well I could see it being implemented more.

The 3-year-old koala male Bouddi moved from Zoo Leipzig to Zoo Planckendael yesterday. Bouddi is to provide for offspring in Planckendael.

At least two Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii) came to Planckendael and can be seen by the public.
