Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

With the confirmation of the Himalayan brown bear, the addition of another Asian bear species besides giant pandas seems unlikely unfortunately.

I’m surprised and actually happy that the tapir species they’ve chosen is baird’s; it’s a huge boost for the South American portion of the roster.
As for Bears we might get both Polars or Pandas but yeah I was surprised it was not a Malayan but I’m fine with Baird’s tapir anyways cause tut gives more possibilities on South/Central American animals

I feel like they are gonna be a dlc. The only other bears I expect are polar bears and giant pandas

Now Mandrills are announced along with the Cheetah, Warthog and rumours of Hyena I will be able to recreate Edge Of Africa from Colchester :)

I'm just waiting to recreate the Cotton Terraces at London Zoo, all species should be present already which is great except for the red forest duiker.

Here's an interesting fact: as of right now, the roster for Planet Zoo's base game is the same as the full base roster for animals in Zoo Tycoon 2. Over thirty base animals have been confirmed not counting terrarium species and counting, which begs the question: what animals do you guys wish would still be included in the game?

I think likely animals that aren't revealed yet are:
Kangaroos - We need at least one animal from Oceania, and red or grey kangaroos are the most frequent choice in zoo management games.
Penguins - It was revealed that there would be Antarctic animals in the game, and penguins are the only ones that could fit that criteria (I don't think they'll include seals or sea lions yet). We could even get one of more species like in penguin houses in real-live (king, gentoo, and rockhopper)
Polar Bears - Another continent choice was polar, and with it's strong conservation focus in zoos these days and its obvious namesake, the polar bear would be a no-brainier.
Giant Panda - I thought that the panda would've been out only or first revealed Asian bear species, but it's still a high contender for obvious reasons.
Red Panda - These are a stable in zoos all over the globe now and would be perfect for wherever you build your zoo.
Black/White Rhinoceros - I thought that these would be revealed before the Indian! It's a toss up on which may be present as the white is bigger and far more common both in zoos and in the wild, but the black rhino has been the rhino species in the first two ZT games and is rarer so it's a tossup.
Bison - The American bison is one of the biggest conservation success stories, and it would be unexpected for it to not make it. Besides, we need them to go with the pronghorn.
Gorillas - This is another no-brainier, the only bugger is if Frontier decides to go with Western or Eastern gorillas.
Otters - One of the more controversial choices but with both species of hippos and two crocodilian species confirmed, I think it's safe to say that otters may make it into the game as it's another animal to utilize freshwater. My preference is the Asian small-clawed or giant otter.
Gibbons - We need more primates and one of the most popular choices to pick from, and one that could possess some unique animations are gibbons. Lar, white-cheeked, or siamangs would go great in the game, and we could mix them with the orangutans.
Jaguars/Leopards - These two are perhaps the most likely choice for a 5th cat species in the game; I think we could get a rarer leopard subspecies like Persian, Javan, or Amur, and the inclusion of a south american tapir species makes jaguars a greater possibility.
Meerkats - This one is perhaps a 50/50; meerkats are small enough where their inclusion is unlikely, but they're extremely popular and with the confirmation of burrowing animals like aardvarks, it's still a possibility.
Giant Anteaters - With the aforementioned inclusion of the Baird's tapir, South American animals just got a lot more likely to appear, and what better choice than one of the weirdest of them all?
Capybara - They can be mixed with the tapirs, and even appear in walk-through exhibits.

The likelihood is that we'll get DLCs by region/continent for example S. America would add Jaguars, Anteaters, Giant Otters and possibly even Maned Wolves and Oceania/Australasia would add Kangaroos, Koalas, Tasmanian Devils and Emus

I hope we get all of the above species that Loxodonta Cobra mentioned especially Rhinos and Anteaters and more Bears as I'd be surprised if they don't make it into the game.

Basically we need all of the species that Zoo Tycoon 2 had in its base game along with the Endangered Species DLC animals.

Pronghorn, Baird tapir and Mandrill confirmed via Instagram

I was expecting any bear besides Himalayan brown. With a good amount of Asian animals revealed and an Indian theme confirmed for the game I was expecting sloth, sun, or asiatic black bears.

I would have liked to see Malayan as well, but I can live with Baird's.

Himalayan Brown Bear disappoints me big time. We already have Grizzly in the game, what's the difference? I'd far rather see any other bear but Himalayan Brown.

I agree with the addition of all those, they form the base of most zoos.

One not yet mentioned that really should make appearance is a flamingo species, they are present at almost any zoo. Hardly any birds have been confirmed so far, which is disappointing. Hopefully we will see more added. With the terrariums and the ability to create large enclosed buildings the door is wide open for literally any bird. Some waterfowl, gamebirds, parrots, birds of prey, and cranes would be nice at least.

Also where the heck are all the antelopes and bovids, even deer!? I think all we have confirmed so far are Thomson's Gazelle and Pronghorn, with rumors of Sable? So many good possibilities, many of which both Zoo Tycoons had. Bison, Yak, Gaur, buffalo, elands, Bongo, kudu, duiker, Gerenuk, oryxes, Moose, various deer, all kept in zoos, many of them commonly!

I didn't include flamingos because there's a very strong chance that they may not be in the base game. Frontier has developed a pattern of releasing new animals on scheduled days (World Tiger Day, World Orangutan Day), and World Flamingo Day (June 23rd) was more than two months ago and nothing was revealed. I think frontier is going to give them the ability to fly if/when they do make a flamingo species, making them animals that will need an aviary (all the terrarium animals are reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates; I think birds will require netted aviaries), and thus not suitable for the base game.

We do have the black wildebeest which is a surprise choice itself over the blue wildebeest. But yeah, I want more hoofstock too.

I am really happy so far this month with this game. It was also great news to hear on the first day of my senior year of high school. The only animals I want are red pandas, bison, polar bears, penguins, black/white rhinos, giant pandas, kangaroos, and Flamingos

Some exceptions that I would like are Giant Anteaters, meerkats, Japanese macaques, sloths, bongo antelope, Otters, and jaguars or leopards.

Some dlc I’m hoping for are one dlc for each continent, and maybe some countries. I also like the idea @TheMightyOrca had about dlc with different zoos around the world. Also an aquarium dlc would be great, but probably wouldn’t come out for a couple years.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I would be surprised to see the game released without them, flamingos are in the base game of both ZT 1 and 2, as well as pretty much any zoo app for phones. They are very much a zoo icon, especially for birds. However there is a good chance you are right in your predictions as well.

One of the early articles mentioned deer with no species specified. We are getting some kind of deer.

Bactrian Camels were also officially confirmed (I know that they were already said to be in the game, but we never had any real confirmation.)

(Sorry if someone already said this, I didn't look through the comments to check.)

Surely it will be Western Lowland gorillas in game, as there is only one to two Eastern in captivity?

You forgot to mention Springbok and black gnu.

I'm honestly disappointed that Planet Zoo included Himalayan Brown Bears. Considering there are only 50 species in game, We defiantly could've used that space for another one. We already have a grizzly bear as our brown bear in the base game. But hopefully we will get more species
