Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

I can't wait to add Markhor and Dik Dik to my zoo on console. Studying the DLC cycle on console at the moment, this new pack will most likely arrive on consoles late May next year (if we get 2 packs every 2 months and we still have 8 packs to go). 2 in Nov, 2 in Jan, 2 in Mar and 2 in May.

I'm also excited for the markhor and Pallas cat, it means I can now replicate the Himalaya area at Tierpark Berlin on the game, barring one or two species, of course. :p

This is from the Planet Zoo Thread updated and suggested by Austin the Sengi.

Here is my wishlist based on the animals that are yet to appear from the Zoo Tycoon Franchise either if this pack isn’t the last pack or in the sequel.

Savannah or Safari Pack: Masai Giraffe, Secretary Bird, Honey Badger, Gerenuk, Olive Baboon, Blackbuck, Nile Crocodile, and Onager.

Mountains or Highlands Pack: Bighorn Sheep, Gelada, and Ethiopian Wolf.

Forest Pack: American Black Bear, Mexican Grey Wolf, Japanese Serow, Barbary Macaque, and Iberian Lynx.

Rainforest Pack: Indian or Indochinese Leopard, Javan Rhinoceros, Crested Gibbon, and Mountain Gorilla.

Coastal/Tundra Pack: Sea Otter, Walrus, Southern Rockhopper Penguin, Emperor Penguin, and Muskoxen.

Here’s my reasoning for these add-in animals.

Masai Giraffe: I wouldn’t mind if we have a second giraffe species and they’re of conservative importance too as most zoos are breeding this Endangered Species. Most Zoos are focusing on keeping Masai Giraffes over generic Giraffes.

Secretary Bird: It’s the Last Zoo Tycoon 2 Bird and heavily wanted by the fandom if added it would make the first bird of prey in the game. It would share rigs like the Red-crowned Crane.

Honey Badger: Since we got European Badger and Wolverine, this is a well-known mustelid that is fearless, tough, and can be an escape artist and they don’t care or give dang, especially to people who complain about not wanting it in the game.

Gerenuk: A unique African antelope that can stand on its hind legs while browsing on leaves and could make a great comparison to browsing ungulates like the Giraffes and the Dik-Diks.

Olive Baboon: Although we are getting the Hamadryas Baboon, Olive Baboons are the more classic savannah baboons in Africa.

Blackbuck: We could use an Asian or Indian antelope species especially if they can mix with Water Buffaloes and Indian rhinoceros.

Nile Crocodile: It’s the more classic Crocodile species, the most social, and would be a great African river animal alongside Hippopotamuses, Greater Flamingos, Nile Lechwe, and Nile Monitor.

Onager: An Endangered Conservation Important species and an Asian equine and mix with Bactrian Camel and Przewalski’s Wild Horse.

Bighorn Sheep: A more classic wild sheep to add to the mountain regions other than the Dall’s Sheep.

Gelada: Becoming more common in zoos in Europe, they are a unique primate due to their mountain living and grass diet.

Ethiopian Wolf: Although none in captivity, they would make a unique endangered canid to add.

American Black Bear: It’s the last Bear to add to the game and to complete all the bear species represented in the game.

Mexican Grey Wolf: Although it’s a gray wolf subspecies, they make a great conservation-dependent species and have a conservation story.

Japanese Serow: A Japanese animal to add with a conservation story.

Barbary Macaque: This monkey is the only primate native to Europe as well as North Africa.

Iberian Lynx: Unlike the Eurasian Lynx, it’s an Endangered conservation-dependent species that is making a recovery.

Indian or Indochinese Leopard: I wouldn’t mind adding a Third Leopard subspecies that represents a Tropical Asian species to the game. Although with the addition of the African Leopard as a tropical alternative to the Amur subspecies, the inclusion of a separate subspecies native to Tropical Asia would be remarkably irrelevant.

Javan Rhinoceros: There are none in captivity, they would make a unique endangered species. Although similar to the Indian Rhino already in the game; they are almost identical in appearance. The biggest differences are their size as Javan rhinos are smaller than Indian Rhinos, only male Javan Rhinos have horns, and the lack of horns in female Javan Rhinos.

Crested Gibbon: I wouldn’t mind if we have a third gibbon to add to the game and make it more diverse.

Mountain gorillas: The only few in captivity live in the Senkwekwe Gorilla Orphanage Center - Virunga National Park and the other subspecies Eastern Lowland Gorilla live only in the Antwerp Zoo for inspiration, they would be an endangered dependent species and comparison with the Western Lowland Gorilla.

Sea Otter: They would add more variety in the marine mammals, playful, cute, tool-using, and they’re an endangered species with a conservation story and how they are a keystone species.

Walrus: It’s a highly requested pinniped and would make a great addition to any polar arctic region.

Southern Rockhopper Penguin: A penguin with yellow feathers crests and hopping on rocks would be a great addition.

Emperor Penguin: They are the more famous well-known penguin species and would make the first true only Antarctica native species to the game. They would require an enclosure that is more of an indoor building like in Marine Parks.

Muskoxen: It’s another arctic ungulate requested for the game and known for its shaggy fur.

Most of the Animals from my list come from Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon 2.

Fully Marine Species from Marine Mania and Prehistoric and Extinct Animals are excluded (Saved for Prehistoric Kingdom).

Onager comes from the Zoo Tycoon DS Game and the Kouprey is not included due to its status as possibly extinct and could be in Prehistoric Kingdom.

Here is another animal I forgot to add in.

Northern Elephant Seal: A handful few zoos had kept them especially in the past, Pittsburgh Zoo has them. This big unique Pinniped would be a great addition to a coastal area, they are one of the largest of their family, unique animations like bulls wrestling and deep diving animation, and sexual dimorphism between the males and females.

If Marine Animals were added for future dlcs in this game or the sequel here is my wishlist from the Zoo Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania.

Sperm Whale, Humpback Whale, Giant Squid, and Bowhead Whale are not included due to never being kept in captivity.

Atlantic Sailfish: Due to being the fastest fish in the world.

Bluefin Tuna: A fish with a conservation success story as it’s making a comeback.

Beluga: Classic Canary of the Sea perfect for an arctic region.

Common Bottlenose Dolphin: Of course every marine area needs these animals although it’s going to be controversial with the shows.

Great White Shark: Terror of the seas, a few aquariums like the Monterey Bay Aquarium have kept them.

Green Moray Eel: a predator reef fish that hides in crevices.

Green Sea Turtle: a classic sea turtle species and can fill the habitat turtle role.

Hammerhead Sharks (Scalloped and Great): They are typical shark species kept in aquariums due to their unusual heads.

Goblin Shark: A shark perfect for a deep sea aquarium.

Harbor Porpoise: a contrast difference with the dolphins.

Leatherback Sea Turtle: Although none in captivity, they are the largest of the sea turtles, they have a leather carapace shell, and eat jellyfish.

Lion’s Mane Jellyfish: a Large Jellyfish that would be a large habitat species.

Manta Ray (Reef and Giant Oceanic): These are the classic filter feeding giant rays.

Narwhal: They are the unicorns of the sea due to their tusks of the males although none in captivity.

Orca or Killer Whale: The most controversial due to being kept in captivity in marine parks and incidents with attacks.

Giant Pacific Octopus: The most intelligent and largest of the octopus and great for an exhibit display.

Shortfin Mako Shark: the fastest shark in the ocean

Tiger Shark: The ferocious shark with a big appetite and can eat almost about anything.

West Indian Manatee: a highly requested species due to their appearances, mythology link to mermaids, and conservation efforts.

Great Barracuda: a classic predatory fish with an attraction for shiny things.

Common Sawfish: an cartilaginous fish which is an endangered species

Whale Shark: few aquariums like Georgia Aquarium have them and it’s the biggest fish in the world.

Blue Marlin: a fast pelagic ocean to contrast to the sailfish, none in captivity.

Blacktip Shark: an important reef predator and to showcase how sharks are top of the ocean food web.

False Killer Whale: a constraint to the Orca or Killer Whale

Short-finned Pilot Whale: a cetaceans few marine parks keep.

From what Mossman Joe said,

It’s unlikely that Planet Zoo 2 will ever feature cetaceans just because of how controversial they are in the eyes of the general public.

A lot of species such as the Bluefin Tuna, Great Whites, Shortfin Mako, Blue Marlin, and Sailfish are open ocean species that realistically need a lot of space, so unless Frontier expects everyone to build a replica of Monterey Bay's Open Sea, these are not likely to be in the base game. They could, however, add them in a DLC specifically geared towards making larger aquariums.

Deep ocean species such as Goblin Sharks would likely be included in a DLC for deep water species, though they're unfortunately never kept long-term in aquariums.

After looking at the roster map of all the species that I have added onto Planet Zoo so far, and I noticed that South America is still lacking.

Here is what I would have to complete South America:

- Black Howler Monkey
- Ocelot
- Bush Dog
- Southern Pudu
- Southern Tamandua
- South American Coati
- Greater Rhea or Scarlet Ibis
- Emerald Tree Boa

Since the Spectacled Bear was added in the game that makes it the last OG South American Animal from the Zoo Tycoon Games.

Yeah, I'm kind of disappointed that we didn't get a pack to round out South America a bit. That was my biggest complaint with the roster. Maybe PZ2 will do a bit better.
