I'm sad that I can't play the game... But I'm so thrilled about the release! Looking forward to seeing what you guys can build.

This might be the most excited I've ever been for a game's release. Planning on waking up really early tomorrow (before 4:00 a.m.) to play the game before I have to leave for school.

It seems the full animal roster has been leaked - some expected species haven't made it in (really surprised there are no jaguars, for instance), but nothing on the roster is actually a surprise considering the number of leaks there have been.

Where are the leopards, clouded leopard, jaguars, cougars etc..?
Why have Brazilian salmon pink tarantula instead of amur leopard, javan leopard etc...

There are a fair few staples of the zoo world that are missing off that list, not only the previously mentioned jaguars but also others I expected, such as ostrich, a kangaroo species, a deer species etc.
Ostrich is in though....but yeah a few staples are missing like Polar Bears and Penguins too
So it is, I looked under O instead of C.
And yeah definitely some odd exclusions. I imagine polar bears, penguins and pinnipeds will come at a later date, possibly as a Marine Expansion DLC, but the other species that aren't there is baffling. No African rhino species either...
I seriously hope a potential African DLC adds African buffalo, either one of the two rhino species, leopards, and, most importantly, more antelopes! I'm still dreaming for gerenuk in the game...

When it has downloaded, the first thing I want to know is: "Do the Aardvarks burrow?"
It's probably just ease of creation - a leopard would require a completely new model and animations (not sure if any of the current cats really climb on special climbing equipment, which would be an absolute must for leopards) while the spider is just reskinning an already existing model which doesn't really move.
Certainly, I don't mind having more diversity of the smaller terrarium animals because they aren't really taking a 'slot' away from anything else. Same with reskins of larger animals like the elephants, tigers, chimp/bonobo and giant tortoises.
This looks to be a pretty good roster. While there are some questionable omissions (Jaguar, Polar Bear, Dugong
), the lineup has a good amount of diversity and should be fun to use. Of course all the animals missing could be added in a DLC later.Really excited to see all the people trying out the game today!

African buffalo ( Cape, at least ) are in the game, and since zoo tycoon 2 had all the species you mention ( and frontier is basically stealing most of its species list from that game) they are quite likely in a African DLC, like you said
