Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

Just noticed some images of all the new animals have been added to the thread I linked above. The capuchin monkey species appears to be the white-faced capuchin Cebus capucinus.

Some animals I would’ve liked to have been included:
White-lipped peccary
Capybara
Giant otter
Spectacled caiman
Greater rhea

Exhibit animals:
Eyelash viper
Northern caiman lizard
Baron’s Racer
Marine toad
Red tegu

Seriously though, 5 species to represent the whole continent is disappointing.

The lack of any new campaign levels is very disappointing - I really enjoyed the arctic ones... so its a shame to not have any from this pack.

I am happy with the new species though, Jaguar were always on my list of dream species for the game

I have to say, I was hoping that we would get a Giant otter. Oh well :(

Is there a possibility that future DLCs cover South America again, or of there been an aquatic/semi-aquatic DLC?

We'll probably get the other continents / regions first and then some more specific ones like e.g. big cats with Asiatic Lions, Clouded Leopards, etc.

A South America Pack has been announced for release on 7th April, containing five new animals:

- Red-eyed tree frog
- Capuchin monkey (exact species unspecified)
- Llama
- Giant anteater
- Jaguar

More information can be found in the link below:
Planet Zoo: South America Pack coming 7 April, 2020!

Really disappointed with this, I think I would be tempted if it was 10 plus animals but 5 just doesn't seem worth it. I play the game for the animals not not new building pieces.

Also, why Llama? Surely a Guanaco or Vicuña is better suited to a zoo game? That's like giving you a domestic breed of horse rather than a Zebra.

I will certainly still buy the pack, it's not like there's much else to do in quarantine :p

I've put together a list of species which I think can and should get into the game at some point:

African Leopard
American Alligator
Arctic Fox
Aye-Aye
Bald Eagle
Binturong
Black And White Ruffed Lemur
Black Rhinoceros
Blue Gold Macaw
Californian Sea Lion
Crested Gibbon
Dromedary Camel
Emperor Penguin
Giant Otter
Fennec Fox
Fossa
Fruit Bat
Ibex
Koala
Malayan Tapir
Maned Wolf
Meerkat
Moose
North American Beaver
Raccoon
Ratel
Red Kangaroo
Red River Hog
Scarlet Macaw
Secretarybird
Sloth Bear
Spectacled Caiman
Southern Cassowary
Southern White Rhinoceros
Sulawesi Babirusa
Sulawesi Crested Macaque
Sulphur Crested Cockatoo
Sumatran Rhinoceros
Tasmanian Devil
Three Toed Sloth
West Indian Manatee
Wolverine

Exhibit Animals:
African Bullfrog
Alligator Snapping Turtle
Chinese Giant Salamander
Emerald Tree Boa
Green Anaconda
Reticulated Python
Thorny Devil

Personally, I am really pleased with all the new animals in the pack. My reasonings for each:

Red-eyed tree frog - I was actually unsure if Frontier were ever going to make new exhibit animals; this release however has confirmed that we will almost certainly get more of these species

Llama - Actually quite happy with this addition; they are the most commonly-kept of the five species in real zoos and when you consider the number of people on the official forums etc. asking for them, it was a pretty obvious choice

Jaguar - Blatantly obvious; to be honest I was quite surprised this one didn't make the base game

Giant anteater - One of the very unique new animals; I actually wasn't that sure they would be in this pack, so I am very happy to be proved wrong

Capuchin monkey - Possibly the animal I am most looking forward to; the addition of a smaller monkey to the game was what I had hoped for from a South American DLC and the capuchin fits that spot perfectly

The only animal that I am truly surprised by its non-inclusion was the capybara (I expected that instead of the anteater), as they could use quite a lot of animations similar to the pygmy hippos - I have seen some describing capybaras and pygmy hippos as an example of convergent evolution.

As for the giant otter - I am personally quite glad they weren't included here, as there are currently no diving animations for any animals and having them just paddling on the surface would have been a bit of a let-down personally speaking.

I would love to see a rarer subspecies in the game, but given the slightly weak conservation message so far (relatively few rare animals, especially in the recent DLCs), I find it more likely that they will have African leopards instead if leopards are incorporated at all. I would love to see Amur leopards :)
Well yes me too, I just thought that the African Leopard would be the most obvious choice, given how many African species they piled into the base game but Amur seems more likely for a conservation-based experience / campaign.

If they do an endangered species focused DLC, I could certainly see Amur leopards getting in there :)
