Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

I’ve heard rumors of CASSOWARY walkthroughs... please don’t tell me those rumors are true considering they’re pretty dangerous as well
The Zoopedia says guests can't enter the habitat. That's good because their known to be one of the most dangerous birds.
I expect African Rhinos to be added in an African DLC. After all, there is already a decoration of one in the game.
There are also signs of alligators and deer and cobra statues.although I don't think there will be an African DLC because there are TONS of African animals already in-game. I think there might be an endangered animals DLC.

I think that they're slowly working their way through the continents, as well as a few other notable locations such as Madagascar, Indonesia or New Zealand hopefully.

The game is on sale on Steam, so I'm getting it today. Gotta see how well it can run on my computer first, and if it works I'll need some time to figure stuff out. So I'll hold off on buying DLC. Is there any place online where I can find lists of what the packs include? Given that the animal additions are pretty limited, I might decide what to get first based on the other offerings. (though my most likely order will be South America, then Australia, then Arctic)

Given the apparent focus on decor, this makes sense. It's much easier to base decor and themes on a location than a general concept like "endangered species". This might be wishful thinking, but maybe after they've gone through the big locations they'll be willing to put out more animal-heavy DLC.

I’m sure there probably will be a listed version of the content in DLC though I’ve not looked myself. I do know that there are lots of YouTube videos covering new DLCs and their content when they are released. I uploaded a video on my channel covering all the new Australian DLC animals/pieces and some 1.3 update content (though my channel wasn’t around when the other DLCs came out so you’d have to look elsewhere for those!) :)

Good guide, thanks! Looks pretty nice. I can run the game without my laptop bursting into flames so that's cool, but I'm still gonna wait to buy DLC, gotta get a better handle on the game first. I'm hoping that it will have a bigger discount for Black Friday. Now I'm thinking I'll get the South America AND the Australia packs.

Thoughts on the game so far: certainly more complicated than Zoo Tycoon 2! I asked for a hardcore zoo game and I got it. I'm picking it up well enough so far, though there are some things that the tutorial modes don't really cover so I'm gonna have to head to YouTube. I love all of the opportunity for customization, being able to layer rocks and plants, and create buildings, does so much for that. And I think the "conservation credits" currency is a really cool mechanic. I also love the inclusion of small exhibit animals. But like others have commented, the animal selection could be better and it's disappointing that the DLC packs don't offer many options. (though I do understand that the animals in PZ are more complicated than they are in ZT2) I'm hoping that at some point they'll release packs focused on specific types of animals and offer more than five animals to choose from.

Side note, I know there's a lot of demand for an aquarium DLC... But given how detailed they're trying to be with the zoo stuff, resulting in a somewhat limited animal selection, I don't see how they could offer an aquarium expansion that would be have enough content to really be satisfying. Might be wishful thinking here, but I'd rather get a Planet Aquarium as its own game.

Anyway, I haven't had the game for long and I'm already tempted to get the South America DLC now instead of waiting for a better sale. I love the theme items available and the animal selection is nice! (edit: I caved and bought it lol. Worth it seeing how I'm probably gonna do a lot of jungle themes)

I think we can safely say there will probably be no fish or cetaceans and no aquariums, since that's a pretty far-fetched idea. I think there is a slim chance, though of sea lions or seals being added, since their common in regular zoos. There is also a lot of talk about an aviary DLC and I think that might be somewhat plausible because there are always themes associated with the DLCs. There may be an aviary building set to make aviaries. I don't think they will include small flying birds, but maybe larger birds like pheasants and ibises. The aviary building set might not serve an actual function but it would make it more realistic.

I think we have a decent chance of getting otters too, since a lot of them are kept in normal exhibits with pools anyway. And they can more easily be tied to location themes, like the North American river otter for a North America pack, or the Asian small-clawed otter for an Asia pack.

I'd love an aviary DLC. What I think would be cool is if they added aviaries in as part of a free update, that way they'd be able to include birds and bats in any future DLC packs. But I wouldn't mind the feature being a DLC exclusive, I'd totally pay for it release day at full price. Love me some birds!

Planet Coaster got a free update (new game features and rides) for its one year anniversary. I hope we get something like that for Planet Zoo!

Glad you liked the video TheMightyOrca :)

I agree we probably won’t see cetaceans but I think other aquatic mammals (Sea lions, otters) and birds (penguins) stand a chance if they can get swimming to work properly. I’d be happy with them if they could only swim at the surface of the water if the alternative was not having them at all! With actual fish or other sea creatures like jellyfish, octopus etc I think they’re most likely to be in the same style of ‘exhibit’ as reptiles etc are now with looped animations or something, which again I wouldn’t be opposed to if an alternative is nothing like that at all.

Birds are a tricky one too. I think there’s a lot of birds they could do well enough with current mechanics (cranes, storks, ground hornbills etc, waterfowl). The smaller aviary birds maybe not and whether we will actually get proper flight we shall see...

I've been think for a long time about birds in Planet Zoo. Even if they don't want to implement flying (which I they should) birds like cranes, storks, ground hornbills, vultures, waterfowl, pheasants, rails and other would work perfectly well.

I eagles, macaws, toucans, falcons, and birds-of-paradise have a shot. It will probably never happen, but I would love hummingbirds even if it's a repeated animation hovering around flowers.
If they release an Africa DLC without a secretary bird I WILL riot.
Or a Ratel.
If there is an African DLC we have to have Meerkats (even though they're a bit overused in real-life zoos in my opinion), African Leopards, an African rhinoceros, Addax, and Fennec Fox

Meerkats are definitely way too common in zoos but would make a good addition to Planet Zoo, alongside all the other species you've mentioned especially either Black or White Rhinoceros.

Got the new Australia DLC pack yesterday. I liked most of it; good animal choices and animations (marsupial pouches are present!) along with some great decorations (I especially like the rock paintings) make it my favorite DLC of the first three. The only problem I have with it is the inability to create a kangaroo walk-through enclosure (guests can go in koala enclosures though, so that's neat). Solid 9/10.

You could make a walkthrough kangaroo exhibit in the sandbox mode, if that's your style. I'm genuinely surprised they didn't make them an animal that guests can enter the exhibit with. I agree with the statement that frontier doesn't do as much research as they claim. They do more than other zoo games do, but not as much as I'd hope.

I have a feeling that black/white rhinoceros will also make it into an African DLC, alongside meerkats. I wouldn't be surprised if something like a fennec/bat-eared fox made an appearance as well.

I'd prefer if they added species like: black-and-white colobus, red-flanked/yellow-backed duiker, olive baboon, ververts, or things like ground hornbills.

I wouldn't be surprised if they added another species of antelope or hyena to the game, in all honesty. I can also see them adding a ratel. As they're a somewhat popular African species.
