For the third year anniversary the red deer will be added to the roster.

Red deer isn't that bad regarding its wide distribution (so it can be used not only in North American, North and Central Asian but also North African enclosures).
However, I hope that isn't everything for Christmas.
There should (at least) also - as mentioned - Black Rhino, Dromedary, a small wild cat species and Crowned crane laying beyond the Christmas tree.

What else could Europe get after this (aside from the Wolverine)? Wild Boar? White Stork? It doesn’t have a ton of zoo-y animals that aren’t also found in North America.

in my opinion there are many european species that in my opinion should be in the game like barbary macaque, roe deer, wild boar, wisent, wolverine,western capercaillie, white stork, great bustard, european pound turtle and european green lizard. I won't include eurasian brown bear and eurasian wolf because i feel people would complain in getting another "lame" clone of an existent animal in the game.

I agree - we already had a European deer and now we got a second one instead of something like Pere David's or Elk. It looks quite nice to be sure, but really not what I was hoping for.
Red Deer is no longer considered North American, Elk is split off as its own species. For the appearance of the animal here, I would not consider it to belong in a NA section.
I really don't feel it needs any more though. Europe already beats SA and Australia in number of habitat slots - though granted most of Europe's species are shared with NA/Asia. With species like Dromedary, Tassie Devil, wallabies, Maned Wolf, small cats, howler/spider monkeys, etc still missing, I really would prefer to see focus elsewhere. That goes for theming too - we've gotten two DLC now heavily Europe, as well as the base.
(Really though, what does Frontier have against small cats? We've gotten three foxes, why no small cats?)

i totally agree we need more south america and oceania representation, there are so many species that could be added to the game, and i don't know why is frontier against small cats, i think they are a must for planet zoo.

Twilight Pack gives me a very European feel in theming, Transylvania type deal. It may not technically be European, but I've seen quite a few people saying it feels so.
You're right, Cervus elaphus and Cervus canadensis were divided into 2 species.
HOWEVER: When we are going to be correct (picky), then it is also incorrect that we have 2 "European deer" species now, because the "European" fallow deer has - despite its name - its origin in Asia and were introduced (probably) by the romans ...
No, it isn't because of Reindeer. I didn't mention it earlier due to its relatively restricted range up in Scandinavia, rather than the widespread Red and Fallow. So technically the statement is correct if you discredit Fallow, otherwise there's three. And really if you want to be picky, it is very likely the Fallow is native to parts of SE Europe based on a variety of evidence.
Or if you want to really dig, Moose is listed as Alces alces in the zoopedia and therefore refers to the Eurasian Elk, not the American Moose despite arriving in the NA pack. PZ apparently didn't choose to recognize that split. So really there's anywhere from 2-4 native European deer in PZ depending on how you want to look at it.

Ugh, yeah, with how big the roster is I can't believe that there are still so few small cat species! And small cats are certainly varied enough that there are several they can add without it feeling redundant or repetitive. Personally, I think the ocelot is just a no-brainer. They're common in zoos, and they're a great addition to South American and rainforest themed areas. And I think Pallas's cat would be very popular with players.
Also agreed that more South America and Oceania rep would be great. Players have been begging for the Tasmanian tiger since the start of the game. I'm hoping that with the addition of walkthrough exhibits, we'll get a lot of bird species from both regions. After all, that's where you get a lot of the most iconic birds. I. Want. Macaws.
Anyway. The red deer is a nice addition to the game. Very majestic-looking animal. Wish we got more of a shop upgrade than just some new balloon designs but whatever, I'm not gonna gripe about free stuff.

Ocelot could work with Sonoran Desert theme, as well. Any animals I can use Saguaros with is a winner to me.
