Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

With the upcoming release of Planet Coaster 2, I could imagine the Planet Zoo 2 will add new features, updated animal models, and new animals.

Based on Jurassic World Evolution 2: We will finally get Birds with Flying Animations, their poop dropping resembling their own instead of mammal same with reptiles, and eggs for all the egg laying animals in the Game.

With the Water Park Feature, we could see something like splash parks or water slides through semi-aquatic animal habitats. Also If Marine Animals and Fish are added we could see Scuba Diving and Guests Interactions.

What do you all want to see?

I don't know if anyone else has this issue but I have noticed over the last month or so that I rarely get any of my guests view into my reptile exhibits on Planet Zoo console, even on a few of the scenario levels.

I am really enjoying playing Planet Zoo console edition and really like the all of the DLCs that I have so far.

I have lately been recreating a few real life zoo buildings on Planet Zoo, mainly from Twycross, Chester and only a couple from London (as I have never done that zoo). I will be recreating a good few more real life zoo buildings.

I do want to build Oakfield house and stable block at Chester and Norton grange at Twycross but finding them quite difficult to recreate at the moment.

Frontier Unlocked stream on 9/25 will announce the next (and most likely final) Planet Zoo DLC.

Will almost certainly have to wait for the sequel in a few years for flying birds, but even grounded birds and waterfowl that can be kept in open-topped enclosures have horrible representation. After the last pack and patch come out I'll finally get into downloading mods, for both birds and for remasters of existing animals. .

How do you know?

I'm only about 99% sure it's new PC DLC for Planet Zoo in that next Frontier Unlocked. That 1% is just more console DLC announcements.

As for whether or not it's the last DLC, that depends on if Frontier's 2026 game is a Planet Zoo 2. (Which I also think is highly likely)
((I think Frontier's been conceptualizing Planet Zoo 2 since at least the Twilight Pack, that's my mini conspiracy theory anyway.))

Yeah, I won't be surprised if it's the last DLC. They're likely going to be focusing their efforts on Planet Coaster 2 for a while now. And I don't expect to get a big update like aviaries or aquariums this late. If this really is the last DLC, it doesn't make sense to include a major addition that won't be utilized much.

Personally, I wouldn't expect to see PZ2 as early as 2026. Planet Coaster 2 will likely still be getting active updates. But I certainly wouldn't mind it coming that early!

Even though we've been getting new updates for much longer than I thought we would, I'll still be a little sad if this is the last DLC. There are still a good number of animals that I want, ha ha. But it has to end sometime, and I can utilize mods if I want something that badly. I hope they go out with a bang and make a pack that really rounds things out and includes some popular fan requests.

I heard that its rumored to be Hamadryas Baboon, Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo and Secretarybird in the new pack. I'd also like to see a Javan Rhino, Shoebill, and Pere David's Deer. In terms of updates I'd love it frontier updated the rhino animations so that they can gallop like how they did in ZT2. Flying birds would be great since they hav ethe exhibit flying bats but doubt it'll come anytime soon. Frontier knows once they design a flying bird the modders will be creating many, many new mods that can use that flying rig for new bird species.

Flying birds and aquariums are most likely going to be the big selling point of PZ2. It makes sense to just wait and maximize impact with a new game.

A better path system would be nice while you're at it, Frontier...

PlanCo2 has a significantly better path system, so PZ2 will share that when (‘cause, let’s be honest, it’s not ‘if’) it comes out, as the Planet games are developed off one another, and therefore share most improvements from previous instalments.

And they’ve definitely kept aquatics and birds out of PZ1 purposefully like you said, as they’d more or less sorted full aquatics out 4 years ago (Aquatic Pack/Deep Diving), and flight 3 years ago (JWE2), but purposefully withheld them in PZ updates/DLC for that long, in favour of increasingly niche animals/features just to keep it going ‘til the next one. Maybe the original plan was to wait for a future major DLC, but at this point it’s almost certainly for a (probably 2026) sequel.

The Frontier livestream has revealed four new species - one from the free update, and three from the as-yet-unnamed animal pack DLC.

African leopard will be in the free update, the DLC pack banner confirms the Pallas's cat, markhor and Hamadryas baboon.

So a highlands/mountain pack then?
The livestream also somewhat implies that it will be released during the anniversary, while the Leopard will come sooner

It looks like we are heading towards a Highlands pack as 3 species were confirmed on livestream.

If it is a Highlands pack, then here are a few other species it could include:

- Spectacled Bear (found in the cloud forests in the Peruvian Andes)
- Southern Pudu (found in the slopes of the lower Chilean Andes)
- Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
- Yak
- Rock Hyrax

African leopard seems controversial but at least base game players can enjoy a leopard in case they can’t get the conservation pack yet.

I think the African leopard will largely be well-received. Sure, we already have the Amur leopard, but African leopards are so iconic, a lot of people have still been asking for them.

I'm really happy with the selection that they announced. Quite a few animals I've been wanting.

Did they say if this is going to be the last DLC? I know I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I'd still like some more South American species. And more primates. Also, did they say if the anniversary update would have anything else besides the new leopard? I've been wanting more restaurants and shops.

They didn't say if it was the last DLC, I personally don't think it is, and we'll at least get 1-2 more.

The update that comes with the Leopard has a new enrichment item (Jelly cake) and new hats in Hat's Fantastic.
