Planet Zoo Planet Zoo!

if they wanted to do this, then why not a chital? it is more unique and would be our first tropical deer.
Two reasons:
1. The Frontier sometimes has strange preference, like making Sacred Beetle rather than Chameleon, making Spectacled Caiman rather than Nile Crocodile, making Quokka rather than Tree Kangaroo.
2. Even though the Chital is a reskin of the Red Deer, the Frontier still needs to put time and effort into changing the color and drawing spots, as well as modifying the antlers. While the Sri Lanka Elephant requires almost 0 extra work, it is closed to 100% copy & paste of Indian Elephant, which can save more effort.

We cannot 100% sure it is South Asia pack, it might also be general Asian Animal pack, or some surprised title (like last year when the Frontier announced the Pallas' Cat, Markhor and Baboon, most of us expected it would be the Mountain Pack, but it is Zookeeper's Pack) like Safari theme.

Here is what I would do for an India Animal Pack
  • Honey Badger (Confirmed, meme animal, wolverine rig)
  • Lion-Tailed Macaque (Confirmed, needed for area completion, Indian monkey needed, hard-work animal)
  • Sri Lankan Elephant (Possibly Confirmed? Asian Elephant reskin, oddball pick)
  • Blackbuck (Popular, needed for area completion, antelope rig)
  • Gaur (bovine rig)
  • Fishing Cat (small cat rig, could come with new animations)
  • Demoiselle Crane (crane rig, continues bird trend)
  • Either King Cobra (Exhibit) or 60 additional scenery

@Schtiemy, overall, this is a good roster; though, personally, I would swap out the crane and fishing cat for the larger Asiatic Lion and Sarus Crane.

Otherwise, the remaining choices (sans elephant) are all worthy of an inclusion.

My prediction:

1. Ratel (confirmed)
2. Lion-tailed macaque (confirmed)
3. Blackbuck
4. Gaur
5. Great white pelican
6. Fishing cat
7. Nilgai

Would prefer a cobra as an exhibit but think we will get scenery.

Feels quite frontier with hoofstock, two carnivores and an oddball bird (using the swan rig). I think the elephant is just background scenery in the key art piece.

Great white pelican
Oddball pick for an India Pack, yes. Oddball pick in general, not in the slightest. Pelicans are very popular requests for the game and the Great White Pelican is currently #16 and #14 on both meta-wishlists. The only hinderance is that their beak and throat-pouch would likely require some work.

Many people are eager to get flying birds, what specific flying bird species do you want the Frontier to offer? The walkthrough exhibit of the current mechanism already allows many birds species like Lorikeets, Cockatoos, Macaws, Hornbills, Kookaburras and Snowy Owls, do you guys want any niche species like Cock-of-Rock, Paradise Bird, Bali Myna, Weaver Bird, etc

Those you listed would be a start. I'd also like to see...
  • A pack with a variety of songbird species, like they did for the butterflies back then.
  • Non-walk-through aviaries for birds of prey and other less safe birds (or the others, if you want a walk-by and not a walk-thru)

I don't know if this species is kept in captivity off the top of my head, but hoatzins are really cool.

Birds like the great argus and crowned pigeon would go along well with the Indian peafowl.

Australia is practically full of oddball species like brushturkey, malleefowl, bowerbirds, and various bird-of-paradise species (just ask Attenborough). The lyrebird would be really cool to have with its vocalizations.

Weaver birds would definitely be a good choice for a passerine. If passerines ever get added though, I think we'd need to have five options in the same pack, like we did for the butterflies in the grassland pack. I'm not sure how many passerines are considered eligible for a zoo-themed game but I'm sure some Australian finches like the Gouldian would fit right in.

Oxpeckers would definitely fit in with the all the African-themed content in the game, but I don't know about sticking them in an aviary, and it might be too complicated to have them interact with the larger megafauna like they would in the wild (having egrets as a compatible species for elephants might work though). From what I've heard, oxpeckers were one of the ambient animals featured in Zoo Tycoon 2, but I don't know if Planet Zoo is interested in having ambient species.

and also choosing proboscis monkey over something more versatile like a rhesus or crab-eating macaque.

My Guess is a Safari Pack.

Animal List:
-Olive Baboon
-Masai Giraffe
-Gerenuk
-Secretarybird (It was mentioned)
-Bat-eared Fox
-Serval
-Honey Badger
-Impala
-Grey-crowned Crane
-Black-backed Jackal
-Greater Kudu
-Lesser Flamingo
-Marabou Stork
-Leopard Tortoise
-Common Eland
-Vervet Monkey
-Roan Antelope
-Ellipsen Waterbuck
-Brown Hyena
-Aardwolf
-Ground Pangolin
-Springhare
-Banded Mongoose
-Black Mamba
-African Bullfrog
-Helmeted Guineafowl
-African Golden Wolf
-Egyptian Goose
-Pink-backed Pelican
-Ground Hornbill
-Duiker
-Shoebill
-Rock Monitor

Roan antelope, common eland, greater kudu, black backed jackal, grey-crowned crane, olive baboon, impala, waterbuck, gerenuk, secretary bird, bat eared fox, vervet monkey, and honey badger are the animals I need especially impala, greater kudu and common eland because my zoo feels empty without them

Same here, but lucky for you, the Honey Badger will be in the Next Pack although on South Asia or Indian Animals.

I'm very torn about the whole elephant thing to be honest. On one hand, it could very well be a new elephant species [whenever the community wants another elephant is a debate of its own]
like the Sri Lankan or Sumatran subspecies.
But on the other hand, the elephants could just be the base game Indian elephants and are only there to establish the Indian or South Asian theme [anyone remember the arctic pack poster having American bison in the background?
So I decided to make not one, but two prediction list. One including the new elephant, and the other excluding it.

If there is a new elephant.

  1. Sri Lankan Elephant
  2. Blackbuck
  3. Gaur
  4. Sarus Crane
  5. Fishing Cat
If there is no new elephant
  1. Axis Deer
  2. Blackbuck
  3. Gaur
  4. Sarus Crane
  5. Fishing Cat
Now of course, it's still unclear whenever or not this will be an Indian, or an Asian dlc of any kind for that matter. Only time will tell.

I don't know if this species is kept in captivity off the top of my head, but hoatzins are really cool.
Currently no facility holds Hoatzins, but the Bronx used to keep them in the 1990s

There is a meta wishlist dedicated to Bird species in the Frontier forum. Based on those votes, no single Passerine species is highly requested; the highest-demanded Passerine species is the Bali Myna, with 17 votes. Nevertheless, I agree it is a good idea to announce 1 pack with 5 small birds like how Grassland Pack offered Butterflies, we can have 5 small birds including Bali Myna, Gouldian Finch, one Hummingbird species (I personally like Marvelous Spatuletail although it is not kept in real-life facility), one Weaver (I personally like Red Bishop) . What species do you like for the last one?

Tough choice, but I'll go with the greater bird-of-Paradise, as it's just such an iconic species.
Runners-up would be the long-wattled umbrellabird, superb starling, the Northern cardinal and the Javan green magpie.

Two weeks from the day the latest dlc was first teased, and so far… nothing has been announced.

Sometimes I wonder if Frontier simply forgot, or if they plan to announce the new pack later today?

I heard the rumor that the roster of this new coming DLC will include Honey Badger, Lion-tailed Macaque, Pygmy Elephant, Chital, Indian Hog Deer, Fishing Cat and Prevost's squirrel, without the Squirrel I would believe the roster is true, but the arboreal Squirrel, emmmm... doesn't look like the right taste of the Frontier
