Interesting news from Planete Sauvage :
- Knowle, the male indochinese smooth-coated otter left the park to join a group in an italian zoo (not designated).
- the zoo received a 7 years old male called Scoti from Prague Zoo and a 4 years old female called Kiri from Zoosafari Fasano (which was not labelled as a holder on Zootierliste) to form a new breeding pair.

I check on Zoosafari Fasano Facebook page and saw a picture of smooth-coated otters (september 24th) confirming the park hold the species.
 
The park discovered a hole in the safari fence in the deer area. It seems that 2 or 3 axis deers escaped and now the employees are looking for them !
Last June an american black bear escaped for some days...
 
Really sad news with the death of Flora, one of the two african elephant cows, last saturday february 19th. The keepers came to the elephant enclosure after they heard great trumpeting. They discovered the elephant with a broken leg. The team do its best but the elephant died late in the afternoon.
Flora came from a british zoo in 2003 and was one of the two cows in Planète Sauvage together with Bamba (the bull died a few years ago). Of course the zoo team is devastated and will take care of Bamba's reactions now.

A new malayan tiger enclosure, and new tigers ! The park received Tarek and Saraï, the malayan tigers previously housed at Berlin. No more malayan tigers at Berlin, and now France is the country with the most of this subspecies in Europe. If none died or was transfered without me knowing : 5 at Planète Sauvage (Kawi, Kara, Sita, Tarek, Saraï), 4 at Parc des Félins (Sirius, Salween, Shima, Serikin) and 2 at Mervent (Surat, Wanita)
 
The park received recently :
- three somali wild asses (new species) from a safari near Sevilla (Spain).
- a 5 years old southern white rhino bull called Pyros and a 3 years old second one called Ringo from Sigean (France). The park has now 3.0 southern white rhino (with 9 years old Dinari already there).

And a France first : a spot-billed pelican hatched :cool:

Found out that there are 11 katanga lions in Planete Sauvage. Any chance someone has more details about them? Names / date of birth / place of birth etc. ?
 
I read somewhere that there are even more lions, 13 or 15. So this is the largest (or second largest after Lisboa Zoo) group in European Zoo.
 
Birth of 4 African Lions on 31st December 2022 from the female Freja.

Planete Sauvage on Instagram: "2 nouvelles naissances à Planète Sauvage ! 2 des femelles ourses baribal ont mis bas, et 3 petits oursons crapahutent désormais avec le reste du groupe d’ours, et un troupeau de bisons de bois ! ✌ Friskette et Nouka ont mis bas à quelques jours d’écart. Fun Fact ! Friskette étant aussi la mère de Nouka, née en 2014 à Planète Sauvage, en quelques jours elle est devenue à la fois mère et grand-mère, tandis que Nouka est devenue mère et grande sœur ! Dans la nature, mâles et femelles ne se rencontrent que lors de la saison de reproduction qui a lieu généralement de juin à mi-juillet. Lors de cette période les femelles vont rester en œstrus (période d’ovulation) tant qu'elles ne rencontrent pas de mâles."
