so we are heading south from Wisconsin, to the Smithsonian National Zoo. we are driving and are planing on hitting zoo's along the way. so far we are planing to visit

Indianapolis zoo ID.
Cincinnati Oh
Columbus Oh
The Wilds Oh
Toledo Oh
Cleavland Oh
and then the national zoo

We live in wisconsin so we have already been to Milwaukee wi, brookfield Il, and Lincoln park il.

other than zoos in Wisconsin or the ones named are there any between Wisconsin and the Smithsonian that are worth a peak? we would like to keep a direct path from here to there, but the western half of Pennsylvania and west Virginia are open for our visit as well.

please let me know of any zoos or attractions for that matter you think would be worth a stop! :D tell me why, have you been there?

thanks can't wait to hear what you have to say! :D

wow thank you very much this post does help alot, i am not even 2 pages into it. lol but i will finish it.
thanks!

You'll essentially go past Pittsburgh so might as well consider the zoo there. The National Aquarium in Baltimore and Maryland Zoo are also near Washington.

I just google-mapped a likely route and it's pretty indirect. Is it worth doing the more 'northerly zoos' on the way there, and then southerly ones on the way back? This means you could add, perhaps, Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek and Detroit Zoo on the way out. Then, on the way back, Louisville Zoo could be a reasonable detour.

It just depends how long you want to make your trip, I guess.

cool we were thinking of doing detroit, maybe, it is a bit out of the way, but not much, we are planing on going for a week. well just over a week. fort wayne i have been to before when i was little and might be worth a look again. thanks :D

Fort Wayne has changed over the years. Our new African exhibit opened a couple of years ago, new entrance this year. We have a Javan gibbon baby born in mid-March--only one in the US.
