Was just wondering what the intrepid zoobeaters, zoo visiting plans were for the year.
What zoos do you plan to visit, and if there is anything in particular you all want to see?

- Chester during every school break (half-terms etc)
- London on 8th June
- Whipsnade sometime in the summer
- Possibly West Midlands in the Autumn
- Maybe Twycross at some point as well
- Any zoo which happens to be near where I'm going on holiday ;)

I was contemplating Edinburgh as well, but i'm not so sure any more...

July 1st to middle of August = 6 weeks of a massive road trip all the way across 9 Canadian Provinces, and then back through probably about 20 U.S. States. My wife and I will more than likely hit a number of zoos that we've never been to along the way: Toronto Zoo and the Montreal Biodome in Canada (have seen many others in Canada already)...and then who knows in the States? Possibly the Bronx Zoo, Pittsburgh Zoo, Cleveland Zoo, Cincinnati Zoo, Lincoln Park or Brookfield Zoos in Chicago, Detroit Zoo, Washington D.C. Zoo, etc. It all depends on how we come back through the U.S.

Two years ago we covered 13 U.S. States in 15 days on a road trip, all along the western side of the country. This time we'll see all of Canada, and then come back beneath the 5 Great Lakes.

Im particularly looking forward to blackbrook and amazon world. I'll be picking up some exotic rodents on my way back for my private collection hopefully2!

In the summer i plan to go to california and do the sandiegos, los angeles, san fransico, santa barbara, seaworld id also like to try and get to cincinatti and the duke pimate centre but it all depends on time and internal flights as they are far away!

Usually do bristol, edinburgh, dublin, chester and london in weekends too.

Hopefully will get to a few others with conferances and animal moves in work too! i know im getting to go to one in an italian zoo but am not sure which one.

@snowleopard--Fort Wayne is just below the Great Lakes--about 45 minutes south of the toll road. Give me a heads-up if you decide to visit and I'll be glad to show you around. That offer stands for any of the Zoobeat folks who make it to this area!

@Rookeyper: thanks for the offer! At this point it is far too early for me to know exactly what the road trip plans will entail...but I'll keep the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo in mind.

Chester (loads of times!!)
Blackbrook
London

We've also been Planning a trip to Asia, so I may get Singapore, Jurong and The night Safari too!!!

And Probably loads more too!

Chester every few weeks.
Burford & Bristol around Easter (I hope)
Edinburgh & Highland WP in July
London, Whipsnade, Colchester, Port Lympne & Howletts in August (perhaps not all of them)
Then I'll fit in Martinmere, Twycross and the Blacks (B'pool & B'brook) at weekends and half terms.
I also aim to do Blue Planet at Ellesmere Port (it's been a couple of years since I went there) and The Deep at Hull. Possibly a group visit to the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham too.

Plus lots of visits to nature reserves like the Farne Islands, Burton Marshes, Leighton Moss, Dungeness, the Bass Rock (I hope), Loch Garten and the Black Isle, finishing with November/December visits to the grey seals at Donna Nook.
I feel tired already ;)

Next possible trip is to Bioparc Valencia at the beginning of March, but that's TBC

In the summer I'll go to Chester to see the new cheetah and butterfly exhibits, and London to see the new bird aviary.

I'm also looking forward to my first visit to West Midland Safari Park in over 20 years.

Gulfarium (Ft. Walton Beach, FL)
Gulf Breeze Zoo (Pensacola, FL)
Montgomery Zoo
Birmingham Zoo
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Busch Gardens, Tampa?

I leave on July 1st for a 7-8 week road trip across Canada and then back through the U.S. We'll hit 9 Canadian Provinces and at least 25 U.S. States before arriving back in southwestern Canada around August 24th. I have a general idea of what establishments that my wife and I will visit, but nothing is 100% with a road trip and some of the days we'll make it up as we go along.

Strong Possibilities (and in visiting order):

Drive across Canada until we pass the city of Winnipeg, and then head south:

Minnesota Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, Lincoln Park Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, (maybe the Toledo Zoo), Detroit Zoo, Toronto Zoo, Montreal Biodome, (maybe another zoo/aquarium around the North East of the U.S.), perhaps the Philadelphia Zoo, National Zoo in Washington D.C........then depending on which way we go: Cincinnati Zoo, Louisville Zoo, St. Louis Zoo, Denver Zoo, Oregon Zoo are all very realistic possibilities as we head back across the U.S. to our Canadian home. That is a rough outline of the trip!! We'll naturally see a few more attractions (haha): Niagara Falls, Toronto's CN Tower, Notre Dame in Montreal, the Citadel in Quebec City, etc, etc.

As I have a membership, I will be visiting the Toronto Zoo often. I'm also planning on going to Bird Kingdom and Wings of Paradise again. I'd love to visit the Bronx Zoo but I'm not sure if I can fit that in this year :( I also haven't been the African Lion Safari in ages, so I might go there this year too. Possibly Jungle Cat World as well.

Zoo Boise (weekly)
Tautphaus Park Zoo
Willow Park Zoo
Utah's Hogle Zoo
Oregon Zoo
Phoenix Zoo

Snow Leopard:
Sounds like a great trip. You don't mention (but should be very close to) the very best zoo in the US--the Bronx. Worth the NYC hassle, and this summer will feature the new Madagascar exhibit which will add to the long list of great Bronx exhibits (World of Birds, Baboon Reserve, Jungle World, Wild Asia, Himalayan Highlands, Butterfly Garden, Congo Gorilla Forest, Tiger Mountain, Wild Dogs). Not to be missed, if at all possible.
