1b) Said word is incorrect; the plural is "platypuses"
platypus is also acceptable as a plural form (it is the one I prefer). If one wants to be smart, one can also use platypodes. And Hix has tried a couple of times to make the case for platypodenda, but has failed to convince me.

I think we may have all been typing at much the same time and overlapping one another...

A lower age limit of 13, which a lot of members have ignored in order to join :p some of whom are open about the fact!

I really think that should be bumped up to 20. However I realise we would then miss out on valuable posts/threads by people such as Laughing Dove, Thylacine Alive, and YourMumsaGoat has been contributing well since he changed his name.

Then again, there are some members in their 20's who make me want to increase the limit to 30 ......

"Your" would work better here

Maybe he should change his name to "spelling_expert01".

ok we got way of topic. My question is does anyone know why platapi (Or whatever you prefer to call it) are so rare in captivity and is it possible for them to come to the U.S?

quite apart for all the other spelling issues, so far we have had platapusu, platapus, platipie, and even platypus. Yay for the last one!

To complete the collection: platypus, platypus, platypus, platypus, PLATYPUS and Platypus. There you go!

You still seem to fail to understand; it's not what I or any other Zoochat member "prefer": the correct spelling of the species in question is platypus; no more, no less.
