Are there any long term future plans for the Dinopark area at all?
BTW: I get that it attracts kids and youngsters and this way a connection to nature, just I personally always have had ... a bit of a no no ... towards Dino thingy

The Dinopark also has botanical and zoological exhibits, in my opinion it's useful as it's basically an educational exhibit along with other educational material.Are there any long term future plans for the Dinopark area at all?

What I appreciated the most about Plzeñ and other Czech zoos is the multidisciplinary approach to education and exhibitions which I found much more marked than in other external facilities.
It's not a mere "hey kids look dinosaur statues", I like the context in which it's put: birds to represent their only living descendants, ancient species of plants such as ferns, teaching how and when flowers evolved...

Sneakily, outside of "main" communication channels (FB, Instagram), the zoo announced, that changes are happening in the African house (both daylight and nocturnal part). And I am afraid it's not happy news for all the small carnivores fans out there, as genet, slender mongoose, cusimanse, and marsh mongoose were all moved out.
As of today, Bush squirrels are also gone (temporarily?) and after the death of the last animals, greater jerboas (replaced by the round-eared elephant shrews) and Tenerife geckos are also a thing of the past.
The genet enclosure and jackal indoors, are currently being repainted and the early shapes are giving a "rainforest-ish" vibe.
The wall separating slender mongoose and cusimanse exhibits has been torn down completely, indicating that at least one of the small carnivore species isn't returning. However, the article on the website states that "visitors can expect multiple species to be exhibited for the first time" (probably referring only to the zoo's history though), which kinda sounds to me like the losses will be greater than only one species...we shall wait and see

All Czech zoos are gearing up protective measures to be prepaired if Foot and Mouth Disease gets introduced into the country (it s a few km behind the border yet).
Children and petting areas with Artiodactyla are already closed almost everywhere. Meet-an-animal backstage tours that involve Artiodactyla are cancelled. Walk-in stables of even-toed ungulates (everything from elephants to pygmy goats) are locked down. Some zoos add barriers alongside fences to increase space between visitors and their ungulates to prevent any type of accidental illegal feeding or petting. People that visited affected areas (N Hungary and SW Slovakia) in recent weeks are asked to please not visit local zoos at all.

Unfortunate timing for me as I'm due to visit in a couple of weeks but thanks for the update - one to keep an eye on.
Is the pygmy hippo house also locked down?
Pygmy hippo house is not mentioned by the zoo so I have no idea. But maybe somebody will visit soon and can write their experience.
I have said this before ... High time for FMD vaccination for exotic wildlife (hoofstock)! These vet regulations and guidelines coming out of their international HQ in Paris are just ... well plain hypocritical and an upside down support for the cattle industry that keeps failing ... with zoonotics.
Nice! At the weekend the enclosure opposite the pouched rat/genet (on the left if you enter the building from the 'flamingo' side) was looking very much 'almost ready for something to go in' with fresh substrate etc so presumably that is the spot (it's usually been a small carnivore in there in the past when I've visited).

My bad, thanks for correcting me! I got a little bit lost in translation, since the species is called "a lesser zorilla" in czech.You're jumping the gun a bit - that's not an announcement per se, and that's not a photo of a Zorilla
