Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

Does anyone know if the zoo has any plans to acquire any new tigers for breeding? If i recall correctly the remaining 1.3 are siblings.

Ironic I posted that yesterday and this is the news I saw today.

The zoo has acquired a new male tiger, Mohan. Mohan if you recall was the tiger who killed his previous mate in a breeding introduction at Sacramento zoo and thus now too aggressive to breed naturally. Instead Mohan will be the potential donor for future AI attempts with the zoo's female tiger, Kali.

Anyone make it out to the opening of the remodeled rocky shores exhibit? I'm curious to know the extension of the the renovation.

Below is an informative article about the zoo's brand-new, 35,000 square foot, $51.6 million Pacific Seas Aquarium. With the small but impressive South Pacific Aquarium still open, Point Defiance Zoo might well be the only zoo on the planet with two aquariums. Can anyone think of another?

Here is a small excerpt from the article:

Money to redo the North Pacific Aquarium has not been raised. Officials have said they envision a South American Rain Forest exhibit there.

The zoo’s South Pacific Aquarium, home to 16 large sharks, the popular Eye-to-Eye Shark Dive program, Stingray Cove and dozens of colorful tropical fish remains open.

I’m pretty sure that Wroclaw Zoo in Poland actually has three aquariums, the Afrykarium, the open air Odarium, and an older one of which I can’t remember the name.
