If one goes to Google and types in "Star Wars films ranked", then on the very first page there's websites such as Space.com, Entertainment Weekly, IGN, GameSpot, Evening Standard, Parade.com, Screen Rant, Vulture and Esquire. Then there's BuzzFeed and Forbes and a bunch of others farther along, and even if one digs a little deeper, my best guess is that 90% of all the online sites have The Empire Strikes Back as the best Star Wars film. It's easy enough to figure out, after clicking on a lot of links, that 9 out of 10 people would choose 'Empire', including myself. It's fascinating to research the lists because I'm a big Star Wars fan of the original trilogy and the most recent trilogy, but I struggle to really enjoy the much maligned 1999-2005 prequels.
Anyway, it would be interesting to perhaps post a new thread and NOT include 'Empire' as an option, as it is the movie of choice on just about every Star Wars site out there. I wonder if removing the overwhelming favourite would then shift the opinions of those who voted for it to less obvious choices. The Empire Strikes Back was only a modest 'winner' on this ZooChat poll, but everywhere else it seems to be at 90% or higher as the clear choice as best Star Wars movie.
