Now the zoo is becoming a rescue facility ... What a joke. Two elderly lions from Borth Wild Animal Kingdom will be moving to Port Lympne in the next few days
Well, as the sign says- Port Lympne is not a zoo!Now the zoo is becoming a rescue facility ... A joke.
Even so, it is fast becoming a far cry from the place it once was.Well, as the sign says- Port Lympne is not a zoo!![]()
He would probably send everything away if he could!Even so, it is fast becoming a far cry from the place it once was.
I heard this persistent rumour DA wants to disband the elephants at PL / Howlett's and send these also back to Africa.
The black rhinos, or some of these, are also candidates for release. I just wish they stay part of the breeding consortium with Europe. Mind you, their current breeder is on loan so all offspring ... are not owned by PL.
When he(?) appeared on here some weeks ago, DA did indicate that this was more of his intention for the future, with Bears and some other Lions due to arrive from two different closed/closing establishments in Europe. Borth say they approached something like 600 zoos to take them before PL offered a home, and have indicated their move is permanent, due mainly to age. So whether they have taken up the space the other Lions expected from Europe would have used remains to be seen, or maybe that has been factored in too. It will mean several enclosures with different lions at PL again though as they are unlikely to be able to mix them. Now the zoo is becoming a rescue facility ... What a joke.

Perhaps the Borth Lion 'rescue' is only a temporary interim measure, or maybe they won't return to Borth.
Meanwhile PL are receiving flack due to the deaths of two of the new litter of Lion cubs, born while the previous cubs are still present- there is (or was) a live feed camera in the dens and two of them appear to have been squashed by the older male cub, which subsequently ate one of them. I did query above how having cubs of her previous litter with their mother might affect their survival prospects. A lot of people saying they should have been seperated out, but very possibly they didn't have the ability to do so, or didn't want to stress their mother by a sudden seperation. But its not turning out well.[/
what’s annoying is that they have released a statement saying it wandered outside when a lot of people watched what happened live and it wasn’t pleasant the remaining cub then spent the whole day outside with its mum who was obviously upset at what had happened someone has said that the mum and cub were later put in a separate enclosure last night but there have been no further news I feel for the keepers as they must be very sad it’s all got very unpleasant and unnecessary x
