Port Lympne Wild Animal Park Port Lympne Wild Animal Park News 2022

Yes, that's correct. Port Lympne just posted that on Facebook:

"NEW SPECIES COMING SOON
We’ve got a new species arriving at Port Lympne very soon."

Source: Facebook
Well I found out a moment ago as I stopped by to their Facebook as I have mentioned to Thomas a minute ago. It's a male Indian Rhino and I noticed the skin and armour too. Thought you guys would really should know

I am actually awaiting news or confirmation for the transfer of the 3 young female black rhinos to the Grumeti Reserve in Tanzania. It is planned this reserve will receive more Eastern blacks from South Africa (Thaba Tholo Game Ranch).

The last introduction to the north-western Serengeti was in September 2019 (9 individuals imported). It was planned to receive another batch in 2021 (postponed due to CoVid).

The Indian rhino project at Port Lympne goes somewhat against current policies in the zoo. Surprised to say the least. And no, not going to speculate which Indian rhino individual did arrive.

Will this be the first time since Whipsnade that all 3 species of rhino (currently in captivity) are kept at the same UK zoo?

Interesting. I thought the family owned Howletts mansion.

The name Aspinall and dodgy dealings does seem to go historically hand-in-hand doesn’t it? The sins of the father etc etc…
So does this mean the random "releases" into the wild will cease? (E.g. Javan gibbons and now-poached gorillas)

Paywalled article. So some of us may need a little rundown.

Sorry, there's no paywall on the site in the UK so I didn't realise (it asks you to register but you can just click 'I'll try later' at the bottom and read anyway - for us here at least).

Short version is that it is suggested he has been benefitting personally from charity funds, including discount rent at the mansion and a payment of £150,000 to his own wife for 'interior design services' - the report (not confirmed, and indeed denied by the Foundation) is that the UK Charity Commission have asked him to stand down, not the Foundation itself.

I wouldn’t get to excited, ha wing a Johnson in his pocket I’m sure he will be tapping up boris for advice on how to keep his job when he should have gone long ago. He is after all the Jedi master at keeping his job :)

Just been to Facebook earlier on and there was a photo of Oris the male Indian Rhino but unfortunately for some reason it was removed and not sure why
