It depends what you mean by 'brand new'? They had Caracal previously in the not so distant past.Just announced on social media that a 2yr old Caracal called Arthur has arrived from Howletts. Presumably a brand new species fir this park?

Are the Indian rhinos at the park now?
They were offered Indian Rhinos some years ago now, I believe they were 'rogue' animals from Kaziranga or another Indian park which had to be brought into captivity for their safe-keeping.. But PL refused them, perhaps related to their failure to breed the Sumatran species, which in itself may well have been due to the age and health of both the females they received. Though obviously, the care and breeding of Indian rhinos is much less complicated and has been achieved in many zoos. And to think, if they’d have cracked it with the Sumatran rhino, PL potentially would now have FOUR rhino species on show. Where else could said that?
The first sumatran rhino female was an aged animal which carries a leg injury from a poachers snare. The odds of her ever breeding were very low to none. I never knew the age of the second female but it had a sweet nature, If better options had of been available I believe they may of even managed to be them. They were offered Indian Rhinos some years ago now, I believe they were 'rogue' animals from Kaziranga or another Indian park which had to be brought into captivity for their safe-keeping.. As a result I believe EEP have been seeking new holders for surplus zoo-bred Indian rhinos recently, which is perhaps why PL have taken at least one on now. From the description it sounds like he's living in part of the old Asian Elephant area. And from his stated age his father would(?) be Jaffna who also sired calves during his loan previously from Basel to Whipsnade. Presumably at least one more will follow at some stage.
I watched those videos back, what a magnificent and interesting individual.Ambam 1990 - 2022
The team are devasted to announce the passing of Ambam, our celebrity gorilla.
The cherished ape sadly passed away from a heart attack at the very respectable age of 32. He achieved worldwide celebrity status at the park due to his unusual habit of walking upright like a human. He became an internet sensation in 2011 when a video posted on social media of him strolling around his enclosure went on to be viewed nearly six million times across the globe.
Ambam’s big personality and quirky mannerisms had established as a firm favourite with keepers and visitors alike.
“This is an extremely difficult loss for everyone on the team. Ambam was one of our iconic characters and we’d all watched him grow from a spirited youngster into the magnificent silverback he was. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten.” – Simon Jeffrey, Animal Director.
