For the first time in modern times, a wild wolverine has bred south of Interstate-90 in the United States. The birth has happened in the Cascades Mountains of Washington and indicates the animals may be spreading south.

There are perhaps just 25 wolverines in the state of Washington and only about 250 to 300 within the entire Lower 48.

Wisent numbers in Poland reached 1635 in the wild:

A new wild population of Wisent is founded: 2 naturally migrating males are joined by 2 males and 5 females translocated into Augustowska (link in Polish):
Augustowska subpopulacja żubrów już na wolności!

BTW - it may be wrong forum, but if anybody knows of a nature reserve, zoo or wildlife park which wants Wisents, ask them to contact the guys in the second link. Wisent population is growing 10 percent per year, and authorities are keen to send them to serious institutions.
