Today, the children zoo (domestics) has been opened again.

The zoo removed visual barriers around the bush dog exhibit and revealed 4 pups (1 male and 3 females), 1 month old and already running around. It is the first successfully raised litter after 10 years for the zoo. The breeding male has been imported 2010 from Tokyo and is unrelated to other bush dogs in EEP. He has produced several litters but none were raised so far (the zoo has a no-handrearing policy for mammals).
 
Hi Jannah, I will visit for the third time the Prag Zoo on 18th september. Could you say me where were the moustached tamarin (Saguinus mystax), the indian pygmy goose (Nettapus coromandelianus), the balabac mouse deer (Tragulus nigricans) and the brown dorcopsis (Dorcopsis muelleri).

Are those species on show again ?

Hi Johan,
moustached tamarin and indian pygmy goose are both off show right now. Maybe the tamarin can return before your visit into the gorilla house, its enclosure goes through a quick renovation these days. But the Secuan house (where indian pygmy goose normally lives) seems to need much more time.

Balabac mouse deer and brown dorcopsis are in the night section of the Indonesian house.

Aardvark born at Prague but it's a very little young so there is some consure about its survaival, let's hope all went well....
 
I noticed that zootierliste lists the 3 Lear's Macaws at Prague now as 2.1 in stead of as 3.0. Has there been any resexing done or did a bird got exchanged with Tenerife?
 
I´ll be visiting this zoo at the end of December. ¿Are the shoebills already on show?. ¿Will the cat pavilion be open at that time?. Thanks!

The shoebills were on show when I visited in October; I'm not sure if the indoor area of the cat pavilion is open yet but I think there's a fair chance that it will be.
 
The cat pavilon should reopen around 1.January. Maybe it will be a few days earlier, but I wouldn´t count with it.
Gharial´s house and the surrounding Waterworld opened last weekend.
Also the giant tortoise´s house is still closed.
 
Very sad news, Padang the Sumatran orang-utan (ex-Chester) died after surgery for an abdominal problem.

My personal opinion is that the female will come sometimes in 2014. Zoo didn´t reveal new info about it. When the current male came Zoo Director said that they are discussing possibilty getting female directly from Asia(Sri Lanka or somewhere there probably, zoo has good relationships here).
