Primates in mixed exhibits

Selwo marina in benalmadena mixes macaws, two toed sloths, tortoises, toucans, marmosets and golden lion tamarins together. They also have an exhibit featuring agouti and squirrel monkeys.

I think that they must be housed. in a very large well planted enclosure to allow animals to hide from unwelcome attention. I house Geoffroy's marmoset alongside Cotton-top tamarins (in separate enclosures)and occasionally they show aggressive behaviour to each other. I certainly wouldn't risk housing them together. I would be very interested if there is any breeding occurring particularly with the birds

It is certainly well planted but really nothing special. A long but not very high aviary with ropes for the primates and boxes inside for the Sloths. Sawdustand hay are placed on the floor for the tortoises inside.

Old thread so I hope someone see's this (I dont have the ability to chat in Mixed Species Habitat Thread, if someone could help with that, that would also be nice) But are there any old world primates that would mix with Storks? assuming that they are flighted and the enclosure is properly enclosed?

My main concern would be with primates eating the eggs of the storks if they do end up breeding, so maybe a primate that eats mainly eats plants?

You will have to make more posts to be able to post in the Spec Zoo forum.

Edit: Fota keeps kikuyu guereza with meerkats and used to keep black and gold howler monkeys with prairie dogs.

Doué keeps owl-faced guenon in a huge aviary which also has Abdim's and yellow-billed storks and in Sigean these species might be mixed with talapoin.

If we count lemurs, Avifauna has multiple lemur species mixed with Black storks, Black-crowned cranes and Guineafowl. In the case of this enclosure, the birds are flight restricted and breeding

Even primates that are predominantly herbivorous have been known to eat eggs and young birds should the situation arise where they need to. Really you just need a species that isn’t super aggressive or territorial by nature and a steady supply of food for them so they don’t see necessary to eat the eggs of the storks

There have been quite a lot of attempt of mixed primate exhibits in Indonesian zoos, some works to this day.

Ragunan Zoo last month added a flock of white-breasted waterhen (Only seen a pair but there could be more) and atleast an Malaysian giant turtle in their massive Bornean orangutan exhibit in the Schmutzer Primate Centre. There used to be a mixed exhibit with Javan slow loris and Java mouse-deer up until this year in the small mammal complex.

Taman Safari Bogor have one of their siamang exhibit also housing mute swans, a pair of lesser adjutants, and several domestic ducks. In the past, there used to be a group of little black cormorants and even further several greater flamingos there. In the eastern grey kangaroo exhibit, they also have ring-tailed lemurs and black-and-white ruffed lemurs that interact with the kangaroos. In the Primate Centre, the Kloss's gibbon exhibit used to have an black swan in their moat, while further back, there used to be bizarre but unique mix with Bornean orangutan, Bornean white-bearded gibbon, lar gibbon, and even an female Malayan sambar.

In Bandung Zoo, currently the siamang have Australian pelicans in their moat, though atleast until earlier this year they have Malayan porcupines and Asian small-clawed otters instead (The otters weren't able to enter the island housing the porcupines). The nearby silvery gibbon exhibit have domestic goose in their moat.

Surabaya I think have their large group of proboscis monkey being mixed with Bawean deers. Other mixed exhibits involving proboscis monkeys include Batu Secret Zoo (With glossy ibis and several fishes), Taman Safari Prigen (With Javan muntjacs), and Bali Safari (With Malayan porcupines and filament barbs).

Batu Secret Zoo have a group of pied stilts in the lemur walkthrough aviary (Ring-tailed lemur, black-and-white ruffed lemur, red ruffed lemur, and black lemur). In Bali Zoo, they have their ring-tailed lemurs in a small walkthrough aviary with lesser mouse-deer, large flying fox, green iguana, and others).

Mogo Wildlife Park keeps Western Lowland Gorilla with Egyptian Geese and Wandering Whistling Ducks, or at least used to in recent years.
