Thank you very much for this list.
You find that thanks to ZTL, right?

Nice rarities all the same.
The oukaris are not detained in Europe do you know if they are in America or elsewhere?

The Los Angeles Zoo has red uakaris and I think these are the only captive uakaris outside South America. In 1982, I saw the red, white and Neblina uakaris at Cologne Zoo. The Neblina uakari was included as a form of black uakari at that time. The South American House also had a range of sakis, most of which I haven't seen since.

I did not know for Los Angeles I thought they were only in South America: interesting.

Oh you saw the ouakaris ...:)

I think I read somewhere Guianan red howler is only found in Singapore outside their native range. (Sorry don't know that Macouria is in French Guiana):(

Don't worry, aardvark250

I was dubious about ZTL including French Guiana in its remit; it doesn't include most of the British Commonwealth.

Guiana is very different to the British Commonwealth. They vote in the French elections just like Corsica - they are really closely related and essentially part of France despite being so far... :)

That's stranger than Gibraltar voting in the EU referendum. Gibraltar will have problems when the UK fully leaves the EU.

France territories is weird, New Caledonia and Tahiti work differently with French Guiana or Guadaloupe.

ZTL lists the Guianan red howler as Alouatta macconelli and the Venezuelan red howler as A. seniculus, but I haven't seen the Guianan type, as far as I know.

While I know that lemurs are not monkeys, I saw a dwarf lemur at Fuengirola Zoo in 1994, but this isn't listed on ZTL.

Obviously these might not be entirely accurate figures as we won't be taking into account small facilities and private collectors

I stand corrected. River Safari lists theirs as Alouatta macconnelli

Interesting, I first looked at the illustration in HMW, but that shows a completely different monkey for A. macconnelli. When diving in the literature, it seems that the morphology of the Singapore animals does indeed match Guyanan Red Howler (another example of the horrible quality of the illustrations in HMW 3).

I guess they imported their animals directly from Guyana then?

They must have because there was never a sustained holding of them anywhere other than in Guyana/French Guiana, so they must have got them either from a zoo in their native range or directly from the wild.

The only other known holders of A.macconnelli are Paramaribo Zoo in Suriname and Zoo de Guyane in French Guiana.
