We libe in a country where the UK and Scottish and Welsh governments were able to convince the general public that they had banned foxhunting when in fact they had done nothing of the kind. The simplistic narrative will always win, especially where fluffy animals are concerned.

I tend to have the same cynicism too.

The simple narrative appealing to emotion usually has the impact unfortunately.

You know it was only banned to stop the dog ripping the foxes apart, the ban was never to stop fox hunting, or the use of dogs for tracking?

Should somebody email them to clarify that this is incorrect? How does one go about doing that?

It is also strictly illegal, releasing invasive and exotic species. Off ones rocking horse ... Mr. DA.

If I was bothered by the 'news' item myself, I'd take advantage of the free trial and cancel the subscription straight away, just to post something. However, I don't think it would really make an impact on the paper or Aspinal.

Just confirms we all knew and feared. My own MP down played the worrying articles and quoted Mr Goldsmiths "we not looking to ban Elephants" but a breeding ban would do such a thing over a longer period.

Ah, Damian hired the PM's wife..?
If anything, whatever one thinks of Damian's view of animal captivity, I'd think that Carrie here was hired largely for publicity - regardless of one's political or zoological views, having a large public figure onboard will definitely be helpful in possible indoctrination. To add, most of what the big figures see are mainly either pro-zoo advocacy from zoological figures, or explicitly anti-zoo advocacy from animal rights groups. I'd say that it would be very good to see more of a middle ground, but I'm not sure how likely that would be..
