The Pygmy Hippo that was long feared extinct in Leberia has been photographed using a heat sensing camera in the forests of a Leberian National park, with the long running civil wars there many of the large animals have been killed for food, the team who photographed them where from the LZS

yeah i read this on NG online also. the shocking thing is it says there are only around 3,000 left in the wild! pygmy hippos breed great in captivity but currently zoos are not globally managing the population responsibly at all......

breed, breed, breed!

im not glyn but the zoos website says that the two have been observed mating and they think that there is a good chance that she is pregnant but they wont know for a little while

Oh boy I really hope so, IF they do get a baby lets hope its a girl, I think the young one which was born in Mareeba is a boy?, any info on this

yeah it was a boy - and if they do have a baby, i hope its not the last.

this is really good news, i just wasn't prepared for our zoos to allow pygmy hippo to go down the gurgler!! :)
