Hi, when i was in the military i lived in Germany for 2 years, and i visited many of their great zoos, in particular Berlin zoo was my favorite, i have been looking for a good video that shows Berlin zoo, and was wondering if any members had any information about a show named:

Abenteuer zoo, they have several editions, and one is about zoo Berlin, i would like to know if this show shows parts of the zoo etc, if anybody could give me some feedback i would really appreciate it, or any other videos or dvds, that you might know that show lots of different buildings, enclosures etc of Berlin zoo.
thank you in advance
Danny

@Miniaturezoo954.Most of the "Abenteuer Zoo"Episodes are available on german DVD, so both of the Zoo and Tierpark Berlin, but they are only available with the european region code, you need a region code free dvd player and your tv must be able to work with the pal system. I have a series of very nice videos about the zoo , the aquarium and the tierpark with great pictures of the history of these institutions. Unfortuntately, they never published this great documentaries on dvd.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, what i can deduct is that abenteuer zoo might not be the best documentary to showcase Berlin zoo, Zebraduiker, i'm extremely interested in those videos you talked about, what are they called? if the format is pal video, i have no problem with that, since close to me there is a video store where i could do the transfer to US video format or DVD. Anything related to Berlin zoo and Berlin aquarium in detail i'm very interested, the tierpark not so much, since i never was a big fan of it, i understand its history and purpose, but my heart is with the Berlin zoo and aquarium, let me know if i could find this videos anywhere, or if you could get any copies i would buy them from you.
take care Danny.

PS: is the Berlin video one that is called, ZOO BERLIN, FUR DEN BERLINER ZOO, with a panda seal that shows, "150 JAHRE ZOO BERLIN, AND SHOWS THE MASSIVE ELEPHANT GATES IN THE COVER?

Sun Wukong thank you for you info, sadly i did not see any videos for sale is the great website you recomended, also my understanding of the language is not good enough, that i deeply regret.
But is a great website, the cage building in the black and white photo, do you know what animal house that used to be before ww2?
take care
Danny

The video series I talked about has four episodes, each of them with a running time of one hour. Episode 1 is called(not the Phantom Menace),ha,ha, but the Berlin Zoodirector is more evil than Vader and Sidious together, ask his animal keepers....) its called(Berliner zoo-Geschichten". The second is called "Berliner zoo-Geschichten-Behind the scenes"and the third is about the Aquarium. Sorry, I can't sell them, but maybe they are still available at the zoo, but I don't think so, they are 15 years old.....

Zoo Abenteuer Berlin Zoo

Hi there,
Did you ever get a DVD of Berlin Zoo?
I think you would be pleased with the Zoo Abenteuer. It shows the Giant Panda ( now sadly deceased), gorillas, leafcutter ants, kangaroos, indian rhinos, and the arawana in the aquarium. There aren't any subtitles. The disc is code 0.The only minus point is the disc only lasts 43 minutes.
I'm sure you'll find it easily on Amazon.

Best wishes,
Michael

Look at this one, this is a very good series depicting the life in Berlin Zoo, Aquarium and Tierpark. Offcourse the people here speaks german, but it had been good if it had English subtitles. And there is a substancial focus on more popular animal species here, like elephants and bears. But if you look a little closer you will also find much footage of rarer animal species.

It seems that German TV has already 10 or so such programs. Each is called Some Animal, Some Animal & Co., and shows daily life in some zoo.

They are good, for they show people that animals in zoos are well cared after.

And those from larger zoos usually make a point of showing specialty animals - in Berlin things like x-raying a sick tuatara, cleaning okapi exhibit etc.
