Questions about tiger subspecies in captivity

So I was wondering why of all the six living tiger subspecies, only 3, Malayan, Siberian, and Sumatran, are in international breeding programs. I am particularly interested in how the Bengal tiger was reduced to being in no collections outside of India.

In essence, doing fine in collections within native range, and hopelessly hybridised outside native range.

To add to that, Bengals are also doing a lot better in the wild, so zoos have a conservation interest in focusing on the more endangered Malayan, Siberian and Sumatran subspecies.
