Hi,

Me and my brother (Jordan-12) are going to visit Chester Zoo on Saturday 11th June 2011 (this weekend). I'm just wondering if anybody has some information about Chester Zoo. The information can be about any animal. If you would like me to find a few things out for you whilst I am there please do not hesitate to ask. Just comment or send me a message.

Thanks,
Becki Varley

Also to add would the monorail be open? And has there been any births apart from the Roan Antelope and Dwarf Mongoose etc.

I think you'll find a lot of up-to-date info on the Chester threads. The regular Chester visitors are great at keeping the thread updated.

Very few mammal births up to now.

Western Grey Kangaroo
Ring-tailed Lemur
Black-tailed Marmoset
Dwarf Mongoose
Asian Elephant
Roan Antelope
Western Sitatunga
Mount Kulal Spiny Mouse
Cape Crested Porcupine

A lot of the recent bird hatchings have been mentioned by SMR and Gentle Lemur in the other thread.

New species arrived this year

Bearded Emperor Tamarin
African Hunting Dog
Parson's Chameleon
Red-whiskered Bulbul

Becki,

You can ask a question for me please.

Why does Chester occasionally send one of its Bongo's to Knowsley? I preeume it is either to try to mate or for enclosure upgrade, but if you could ask I would be grateful.

Thanks,
P

Chester are only keeping female bongos at the moment. There are no plans to bring in a male at the moment. Males sent to Knowsley would have been surplus at Chester.

With a username like yours who could argue :D

However I know Knowsley have 3.0 and have had for sometime, but for a few weeks periodically over the last 24 months(ish) a 4th Bongo has been at Knowsley and I was wondering the reason behind this, particularly as I have been led to believe it was one of the girls from Chester, so I was wondering what the reason may have been for these 'visits'.
