Rare bird smuggling FAIL at LA International Airport

Sadly far too many succeed.

This I notice was LA International airport, I don’t know, but expect that security here would be more likely to find animals being smuggled than many other countries in the world where security at airports may be more relaxed and miss these cases.

There is so much money in it and the temptation (money on offer for a successful job) is just too much for many people unfortunately.

they were golden conures (aka Queen of Bavaria's conures), which are rare in both the wild and in aviculture. There's a photo of one of the smuggled birds on this link: TSA Catches Woman Smuggling Bird At LAX, Man With Snakes In Pants (PHOTO)

I can't find anything on their subsequent fate. One would assume they would be deposited in a local zoo or similar.

Which is one of the reasons for my curiosity. Many smuggled animals and plants end up at the Los Angeles Zoo from LAX, being both a zoo and botanical garden.

I don't know if the LA Zoo keeps their ISIS records updated, but that lists them as having one female golden conure

ISIS can be behind in posting updates by months. I'd say check back in March. Not that the confiscated birds even went to the L.A. Zoo.
