A group of Giant Groupers is currently stuck in the drainage systems of the Brisbane Airport. They swam in as juveniles past the security gate from the nearby Moreton Bay and have been feasting on the local fish ever since. They have since grown too large to leave the airport's drainage system and will soon be relocated to a more ideal location. Certainly something you don't read about everyday! :p

Article: Fat fish too big to escape drains among Brisbane Airport's myriad wild residents
The fish, some almost 1 metre long, are living in the airport's drainage channels and feasting on other species.

Brisbane Airport's wildlife management team is calling in experts from Sea World to help remove the giant groupers.

The dilemma emerged after juvenile groupers entered the drainage channels from Moreton Bay to gorge on schools of fish washing into the drains on the incoming tide.

Brisbane Airport Wildlife Manager Jackson Ring said the giant groupers are an unusual problem for the airport to manage.

"They're going to give us a hand to try and relocate these fish, because they're healthy specimens.

"We'd love to see them living somewhere else other that the airport's drainage network."

Leopard kills a dog at a house doorstep.

Incredible is that the leopard is standing over a sleeping dog for over a minute, and the dog neither hears nor smells it.

A film in Mexico shows a Morelet's crocodile killing a cat of some species (despite the name of the video's title, I'm not convinced the animal is actually a jaguar). Whichever species is being attacked, it's not something I've ever seen before.

I'd say it's impossible to tell what that is.

The original video appears to be from here (which says it was taken at Quintana Roo on the Yucatan): Publica AMLO video de jaguar atacado por lagarto en Cobá » Quinta Fuerza

Yes, I can't see any characteristics pointing to a cat - all we can see from the video is a crocodile chasing a fairly fast-moving mammal in the water. For all we know it could be a young tapir...

A Diamond Python was recently found in a Sydney supermarket. Not particularly unusual for them to be in urban areas but certainly is to find one among the herbs and spices!
