Rarest animals seen in a zoo or aquarium

I haven't. Was in Spain, France and Morocco but not Portugal. Would love to go at some point. I'd especially like to do whale watching in the Azores. Do you know if they still have the Mediterranean Monk Seals and Pilot Whales?

No more monk seals at Lisbon.:(

Also with all this Spain and Portugal talk, has anyone seen the Black Lechwe (Kobus leche smithemani) in Albinyana (Aqualeón) Spain?? If so, any photos!??

The Pilot Whale wasn't in the Zoo anymore in 2011. I was there in November and when I checked what was on show earlier that year it already stated she died. I can recommend both the zoo and the oceanario. Although I liked the second the best.

not exciting, but saw the thicklip grey mullet at macduff aquarium

same establishment, same question. this time the three bearded rockling

common dab?

for some reason ztl counts macduff marine aquarium as in england

Texas Ocelot (ZooAmerica)

I don't know what made me think ZooAmerica's Ocelot was a Texas Ocelot but it's a generic individual.

I don't know why my list was that sort either as, at that point, I know I've seen some others.

Once I get my notes and such sorted from my trip to Cincinnati I'll post a new list of the rarities I saw there.

In terms of the availability of this species, the crowned guenon at Twycross is probably the rarest in that terms.

You see, that's interesting. I was ztl yesterday and saw the guenon on there and was confused because it's the same species as the pair at Cincinnati and I had been told that Cincy had the last two! It appears that the two collections have different subspecies, though.

I think ZooAmerica's ocelots are actually Brazilian Ocelots.
Looking back on this thread, I was reminded of my post on here, and now that I know more, I realize it is very wrong in terms of "what's rare." I might post a revised list sometime.
