About 45 minutes north of downtown Phoenix is a new reptile zoo called Rattlesnake Ranch. It opened in March of 2021 as a facility that specializes in training dogs to deal with rattlesnakes, although after two years of operation has expanded to include a 2,400 sq. ft. nature center. As of right now, the establishment can only be seen via pre-booked appointments, but by spring 2023 there will be an admission charge to see the vast collection of snakes. There are more than 100 exhibits, with a strong focus on rattlesnakes. There are a number of photos on the link below that show a wall of terrariums:

It should be noted that the tour is free right now as well, if you make an appointment. I hope to make it here late this year - the place is less than 2 miles from my in-laws.

We need at least one zoo nerd to compile a species list. :) If I can swing a short California/Arizona trip this summer then I'll definitely stop by Rattlesnake Ranch.

Based on the pictures, this place does look fine, but it is a shame that the signs both on the walls and on the enclosures seem itty bitty. And while some displays do have a fine furnishing, some others could do more than just having some mulch, two hiding boxes, and a faux cactus.

I think it looks great, it is fantastic to see private places like this really putting together some nice facilities.

The good thing about visiting Arizona in summer (at least the desert portions like Phoenix) is that hotel prices are cut in half.

This is a nice find, though it doesn't seem to amount to much. There is a more extensive reptile collection in the same general area called Phoenix Herpetological Society. If you do come to our state, try to arrange a tour of that as well.
