One of the things I thought about when I became a moderator was how the Asian section of Zoochat functions in quite a different way to the European, North American and Australian sections. Rather than having a large 'resident' population of users who regularly visit their home zoo and frequently visit many others in the local area, Asia tends to see far more 'transient' users, who travel into a region, visit several zoos and then leave again, possibly to never return. I want to make a resource that will be useful for travelling ZooChatters. Often when someone visits an Asian zoo they want to get some advanced knowledge; things things not to miss, unusual timings etc, but it can be difficult to know who to contact to get this information. This will be a database, completely voluntary of course, of all Asian zoos on the site, who has visited recently, and when exactly that visit took place. That way when someone is planning a trip and needs advice, they just check this thread and then message the relevent person. Of course they can still create an advice thread as well if they want to.
I think how this will work is pretty self explanatory: if you want to be a part of it you simply comment with an organised list of your Asian zoo visits, accurate to at least the month, and I'll update the main database with the info as quickly as I can. To stop things getting unwieldy we'll limit the number of visits per zoo to the five most recent.
Note:because the more 'catch-all' this list is, the more useful it should be, I have included all places on my list that hold captive wild animals, even if I don't 'count' those places as zoos, and even if they're not already on ZooChat. I recommend you do likewise. This might also become unwieldy, but I think it's worth a shot.
