Auckland Zoo are proposing to export one of there (female?) Red Panda in exchange for a new male. Auckland's current Red Panda groups consists of a batchelor male (Schimla) and his mate (Maya/Mia?) with there 2 female offspring from litters in 1999 and 2003. Last litter was 2:1 born in 2003. The males were transfered to Hamilton Zoo in 2006 although sadly one escaped from the zoo and was fatally hit by a car less than a week after arriving. I believe the 2nd is still there. I expect that if this move goes ahead then it will be the youngest female that will be moved (the other two are really getting a bit old for breeding) and a new female will be sourced as a mate for the new male.

Youngest daughter of Maya, Khosuva is supposed to be moving sometime soon. Im not too sure about the male part but I do know that Maya and her other, older daughter Amber will be staying.
