Relocation of Wild Elephants Fails to Reduce Human-Elephant Conflicts

Over 70 humans and 200 elephants are killed each year in Sri Lanka due to conflicts between the two. To combat this problem, elephants are relocated to try and reduce the amount of elephants killing/injuring people, destroying houses, ruining crops, and more. However, this often leads to more conflicts and human/elephant deaths.

Without reading the articles, I think it is pretty safe to assume that an ever increasing human population destroying/appropriating elephant habitat is the culprit here.
