Reptile mixed exhibits

Mar. 2018 - Entry Village Bathroom - Boelen's Python Exhibit - ZooChat
I'm not sure how I feel about that. It's cool to use all of your space, but then the enclosures will easily be missed by visitors! If a cool species is in the bathroom for the opposite gender, then some people can't see it!

I believe there is a species of marmoset in the women's restroom.

I remember that Cotswold Wildlife Park used to have a Green Mamba/Gaboon Viper mixed exhibit. I don't remember the exact species, but I remember when I went there, the mamba was laying on top of the viper.

Said exhibit is no longer there, though.

In addition to those already mentioned for the Bronx Zoo, it also has tortoises in with two species of lemurs and a number of species of small perching birds (I've seen a lemur standing on a tortoise using it like a stepstool to reach some food), and several of the reptile house exhibits are of mixed species, including more than one with multiple turtle species, one (I think) with both turtles and lizards, several with more than one species of snake, and if I remember correctly at least one with a snake and a frog or toad.

Also in ouwehands they have green iguanas together with a caiman species. I don't remember the species of caiman anymore though.

Here are some mixed species reptile exhibits from some zoos I've been too:

Woodland Park Zoo
  • Egyptian Tortoises, Ornate Girdled Lizards, and Ornate Spiny-Tailed Lizards are mixed in the Adaptations building.
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium
  • White's Tree Frogs and Magnificent Tree Frogs share a terrarium in the kid's zone.
  • Rhinoceros Iguana and Green Iguana share an exhibit in the Discovery Hut.

Pairi Daiza keeps Amethystine pythons, Parker's snake-necked turtles and Australian zebra finches in 1 enclosure.
Also in Pairi Daiza they keep American alligators along with pound sliders.

Zoo Antwerp(en) has no longer spectacled caimans, they replaced them with American alligators in 2020.
The cuban rock iguana has also moved out since then. However, they still keep cuban rocks together with red-footed tortoises.

There are numerous mixed-species reptile exhibits in Beauval, sometimes even mixed with frogs, fish and/or aquatic mammals.
They appear to be successful, as I see them for many years.

Indianapolis has many reptiles in there desert dome, such as berded dragons, and grand cayman rock iguanas, sometimes mixed in with bobwhite quail.

Central Florida zoo has a few mix reptile/amphibian exhibits, such as bushmaster and dart frog, and emerald tree boa with a type of tree frog.

Gatorland has some crocodilian mixes, such as a Cuban crocodile with some American alligators, and ether a Nile/American (Don't remember witch one) in the larger entrance swamp

And many zoos in Florida have had many species of turtles with alligators. Mostly sliders, but I think I have also seen soft shells, and even alligator snapping turtles.

I remeber that skansen-akvaret previously had gila monsters and gundis together when i was a child.Although i suspect that any babys would be somewhere else.In the desert exhibit which now only has common dwart mongooses previously had frilled lizards and bearded dragons together with armadillos, mouse birds, australian zebra finches, ground squirrels and king quails

Singapore Zoo keeps rhinoceros iguanas with African spurred tortoises, Tortoise Shell-ter mixes the tortoises with a couple of other reptiles and Reptopia also mixes some species but I'm not sure as of now, I need to visit again to see

River Wonders mixes gharials with turtles and their baby tomistoma also has some turtle roommates. Night Safari doesn't have many reptiles but I think they may mix the gharials with something idk

Florida aquarium has a few mixed habitats:
  • American alligator (2) and alligator snapping turtle (1).
  • Panther chameleon and day gecko (1 chameleon and 3 day geckos).
  • Diamond back terrapin and red eared sliders.
  • Soft shell turtle (2) and alligator snapping turtle (signed, but I am not sure it is really in the habitat)
  • Ring tailed lemur and radiated tortoise.
Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park:
  • Gharial and giant Asian pond turtle
  • Aldabra tortoise and Galapagos tortoise.
  • Florida manatee with Arrau turtle, yellow-spotted amazon river turtle

They might have always been separated but I think Toronto had/has a snapping turtle (not sure whether common or alligator) in an area accessible to their beavers.
