Ok, apart from the obvious tortoises, are there any zoo's with other reptiles. Or just reptiles specifically. I'm an avid reptile keeper and I've never come across such a thing. Did I miss something?

Anyone here have any lizards, snakes, etc? I have

1.0 bearded dragons
0.1 leopard gecko
2.0 corns
1.0 crested gecko
1.0 red foot

The vast majority of zoos have a reptile collection; I think you'd be hard pushed to find one that didn't!

One of my favourite reptile collections is at London Zoo, with a few cobra species, black mambas, rhinoceros iguana, Komodo dragons, Philippine crocs to name just a few.

Maybe my zoo's are just terrible! Oh, black mambas are beauties! Do you have any reptiles? Or keep any animals?

As I recall, Brookfield Zoo had a decent Reptile House. I remember seeing Goliath Frogs there back in the 80's.

:p

I think Brookfield closed their Reptile House recently. They had some neat stuff. I think they actually had a perentie. Their Caiman lizard setup was the first I'd ever seen. I personally really like the collection in the Bronx. They have huge Nile crocs at the Madagascar building, as well as Cubans in the Reptile House. Indy's desert dome has some cool ones too. Neat uromastyx exhibit. Toronto had some neat herps spread around the park, too. San Diego is also very good. They have great outdoor habitats for several lizards. The Shedd Aquarium also had a terrific temporary lizard display, too and still might.

As for keeping, I have a couple of reptiles. My little scaled family includes 1 red ackie, 1 Egyptian uromastyx, and an Argentine tegu.

If you want reptiles come to Texas. Most of the big zoos here have huge reptile collections. Dallas and Fort Worth battle each other for who has the largest collection in the US (maybe world?). At Dallas we have Tuatara, Perentie, Nile Crocs, many, many monitors (only one we don't have is Komodo Dragons!). Fort Worth is about to open up what may be the best reptile house in the world the Museum of Living Art (MOLA). It will be a spectacle to see.

London zoo's reptile collection is great, there's not many zoos in the UK without reptiles. Chester's is also good, especially with the tuatara.
BTW, I also have pet reptiles, I've got two beardies and two leopard geckos :)

Toronto Zoo has a nice collection of reptiles, including Massaga Rattlesnake, Nile Monitor, Frilled Lizard, Cobra, Indian Cobra, Fly River Turtle, native turtles, Komodo Dragon and prevously kept a Sidewinder, Water Monitor Lizard, Aldabra Tortoise, Gila Monster and False Gavial. There's also plans on the zoo getting a venomous reptile exhibit, when the rest of the African pavillion gets a facelift.

Frilled Lizard? Wow! That's something I've not seen before. Am I right in saying there are none in the UK?

Cotswold and Marwell both display Frilled Lizards, and I think there are others. They also turn up in pet shops from time to time.

EDIT: ISIS also lists West Mids, Chessington, Drayton Manor and Blackbrook as having Frilled Lizards (not necessarily on show, of course).

Frilled Lizards are nothing spectacular unless they open the frill. I've never seen them do this.

I think they're quite common in pet shops, seen them in loads myself.

Frilled are pretty boring. I've seen quite a few. As for the zoo, I'm going to have to go to texas! So NO one here has reptiles? :(

Beardeds strike me as being a reptile with a "personality".I don´t personally have any but from what I have been able to pick up they seem to be quite friendly towards their keepers and affectionate. They have a reputation for intelligence and these personality traits which are unusual among reptiles , although there is surprising footage on youtube of a friendly Komodo Dragon.Have yyou found this to be true with yours?

I have two and they're awesome, better than any pet hamster and I don't know why more parents don't let their kids have them. Probably partly because of the price but there's also the "reptiles are evil" press :(
But they're great pets, really friendly, never been bitten and I've had mine for three years. They do have personalities, my male crawls onto my lap when I open the viv. Female isn't as friendly but she's still handleable. They're actually sat next to me now lol.
Yeah I love my beardies :)

Probably because the big pet store chains do not stock reptiles or reptile equipment however you can buy a hamster and a starter pack for about £20 from those stores instead. Therefore It's easier for parents to buy a rodent/rabbit/guinea pig than a reptile

That's a good point actually, and somewhat for the better as some people don't even understand that reptiles need heat to survive.

GROUNDSKEEPER24, sorry I just now read the replies.

I'm thinking of getting a uromastyx or a tegu. What are the uvb requirements for a tegu? I know there is debate on them. I am aware that uros require uvb and hot temps. But would tegu's need uvb? Their uvb requirements have always confused me because of conflicting commentary and caresheets.
