blackpool zoo review 2010,
blackpool is a very good zoo although abit small and could do with extending the park i am a member at blackpool zoo and visit every other week,
the entrance is quite unique and i like the tortoise enclosure maybe perhaps putting in african crested porcupines,
Darwin the male seychelles tortoise is very impressive i believe he is around 85-95year's old if i remeber correctly.
the bird display is nice and the gibbon lake is brilliant for the gibbon's but viewing is quite poor inside viewing is better,
the tree porcupine enclosure could do with upgrading.the bactrian camel paddock is quite nice for the camel's inperticualar the male bactrian camel sid and the female karamay have just had a baby boy named alfie ive heard not 100%sure.the elephant house needs upgrading too but i dont think the budget would fit.moving onto the small primates the ring tail lemur family is quite nice with 6 babies.the de brazza family are copeing after the loss of the female and that leaves just the big male and his offspring 3 or 4 female's.the pileated gibbon family have settled down now ivy and sortimto are taking good care of the baby.in the small primate's are also red titi monkey, pygmy marmoset squirrel monkey and the king colobus monkey's work has been done to there enclosure's.moving on to the australia enclosure the mob of kangaroo's were sunbathing as normal.the emu's had layed eggs and the wallaby were eating the grass.the children's zoo is quite good and the wallaby walkabout is brilliant too.the aardvark's laurel(f)and arnie(m)have now been granted access too there 5 star outdoor enclosure.moving onto the bongo's the big male was out with the female's and young.the hartmann's mountain zebra's helene(f),fernando(M)and another female not sure of the name were looking agiated with the male ostrich chasing them around the paddock.the western red panda's chesnut(f)and jango(M)have produced cubs 1 or 2 i think.the silvery marmoset's and azara's agouti enclosure is very small and the marmoset's have very little tree's to climb on.the californian sea lion enclosure has the WOW factor its the biggest in the uk and a new home to max(M)californian sea lion flown from madrid to blackpool.the ape house is good but viewing is limited and the group of 5 including the new baby lives in the house the mountain and as a call it the backyard.round the corner is the bornean orangutan's the 3 female's cherie, summer and their mother victoria and young male raman.moving onto the red river hog's the 3 female's leaded by their mother scarlet live on their own the male will has left as he had bred to much.the muntjac enclosure is okay but they looked in distress.the asian short clawed otter is home to-6 otter's mum,dad and the 4 babies.the big cat house is quite fascianting from zambar the amur tiger the biggest cat in the zoo-lunya the smallest cat at the zoo lunya, nikita and their sister kimya are sister's born to african lioness gillan the other 2 female's rachel&jasmine are kept in line by the big boss wallace the big male.the giraffe's are nice animals to watch but not all pure some are hybrid.the primate house is the last stop home to black howler's,pileated gibbon's.king colobus, and spider monkey's there is also a baby spider monkey aged between 2-4months old
