A female black rhino at the zoo is very close now to giving birth and the zoo has installed a webcam in her indoor quarters, which can be viewed here.

As of today you can keep track of the black rhino called Malaika who is 15 months pregnant and due to give birth over the next few days at the Magdeburg Zoo.

I have been following this camera for a couple of weeks. I missed the actual birth by about 10 minutes,but had a traumatic 2 hours watching him trying to stand while his feet slid everywhere. I was pleasantly surprised to see him up next morning. It is quite amazing to watch mother being so gentle,not a trait one would imagine.
I am still excited watching every day. Before the birth the morning carrots were laid out in a heart shape for the viewers. Well done to all concerned; Live cctv is quite brave for behind the scenes, but I am sure greatly appreciated by many.
I hope other zoos take note and fit cameras where possible.
