I may just be stating the obvious here, but is D.b.minor being phased out of AZA collections? As I've noticed that the once esteemed breeding herd at Fossil rim has not produced a calf in quite sometime.
what makes D.b.michaeli more favorable? It's lower wild population and the possibility for global collaboration in a breeding program? Or just a higher captive population to begin with?
Which Us.Zoos are currently keep three rhino species ? I belive, San Diego Safaripark, Fort Worth ?,Cincinnati, and White Oak(which isn't a zoo ) ? Is that correct, and are there more ?
Dunno. I just like to suggest you follow up this site: The Rhino Diaries - EARTH Ltd..I know that Southwick's has two South White Females, Thelma and Louise. I know there was talk of finding a boyfriend for them (though I wish they would expand their enclosure a wee bit, maybe add some grass, not that I think the exhibit is an abominable one or that they look at all unhealthy. Does anyone know if there has been any progress in this or was it just talk?
Anyone knows where White Rhinos Khari (Kidogo's 3rd calf) and Ahadi (Alake's 1st) are at the moment?Lowry Park Zoo has southern white and Indian. Currently they have one southern white male, three females, one female calf as well as two Indian Rhinos, 1.1. They have had 5 white calves and 3 Indian calves, IIRC.
